I think he was saying the opposite (i.e. cork is close to Vic in ability, unlike the other two), just really badly phrasedOuch, LTL. I think Jack is a little closer to Victor than Fox is to Shaw and SKD is to Artur.

I prefer Wanyama personally. He is worth persevering with in my opinion.
Would be gutted, annoyed and somewhat confused if Cork was to leave.

Phew!!!! Yes, that's what I meant - that it's not a comparable situation to Boruc/Davis Shaw/Fox - those are positions we WOULD be in trouble with when injuries come about, and that we'd not 'lose' as such if the second string were sold. Because Corky is close to Wanyama in terms of ability, we should absolutely NOT sell!
That one can work both ways. Maybe its that some people don't realise how bad he is because the rest of the team is playing well! Thank goodness I'm not the manager, far too sentimental, I'd still be playing Hammond
Clearly Wanyama offers more than Cork, but I still think he's more than capable of doing a job for us, and personally I think he possibly should be in the England frame if he plays a bit more for us. He's not the most expansive player around but he's really good at playing a simple game and recycling possession, which is something England have always struggled to do.

Still can't understand why people would rather cork than Wanyama. Cork offers dependable graft - but no whizz. He doesn't add bite to the middle and, most importantly, he can't bully the opposition. We needed a bully all last year - and now that we have one people want a nice guy again.
One of the more interesting things is how people seem to have convinced themselves that Cork was some kind of master playmaker. He didn't misplace as many balls as Wanyama, sure, but that's because he kept it simple. He offered very little to the attacking game (the same as Wanyama will do, if he cuts out his attempted Hollywood balls and keeps it simple), but at least Vic offers a goal threat.
Well, he might have scored for Celtic but I haven't seen much of a goal threat playing for us yet. Of course he has attributes, breaking up the opposition play being the main one. But lets not get carried away that he is a great footballer because he isn't. However, that doesn't mean that he's not the perfect person for his position given our style of play. We wouldn't want 11 Tiss's after all. Whether or not we would be better or worse with Cork is impossible to know.
He had a goal disallowed for absolutely nothing, do you not count that? And sure it's impossible to know for sure, but you could say that about absolutely any hypothetical. Our defence has been very very much improved this season. Wanyama has been a big part of that, backed up by both the stats and the eyeball test.
Cork's better at passing and has a better partnership with Schneiderlin, Wanyama's stronger and is a better tackler. Wouldn't mind if Wanyama got injured as it would give Cork a run of games. Cork seems to have not played well in Cups, so maybe it's his partnership with Schneiderlin which brings the bets out of him. The only way Schneiderlin and Wanyama will improve as a partnership is if they play together and I have noticed an improvement, especially if you compare the Fulham game to the game against Sunderland.

I think that we're lucky to have both of them, as long as they are both happy to play a part of the overall squad....No-one can deny that the Morgan/Cork partnership was a successful one (many article's stats made it one of the Premierships best last season) but it's clear that Poch sees Vic as his midfield enforcer to compliment Morgan's box to box play. I'm happy to accept Poch's selection and i'll be just as happy should Corky make the starting XI.
I regularly see people remark of Morgan and Cork having a "better partnership", does someone mind elaborating on exactly what makes a good partnership and why it's better with Cork than Wanyama?
