According to Caulkin the apparent delay in signing N'gog is down to the fact he's on his holls in the US. He goes on to say that the lad is keen to join us. So finally some good news. Yay.
Sunderland Echo recons he could be a bargain, personally dont know a great lot about him, as he has never featured in any of the pool games Ive watched, except as a sub.
So he isn't overly concerned about his future then syd which says to me he is going nowhere and is happy to sit on the Liverpool bench and rake in the cash, not a type of player we want or need at SAFC.
haha I know I cant see many people turning out at the SOL on the day he signs, which hopefully wont be any time soon.
Funny thing is he'll probably turn out to be the buy of the century after all this. We can but dream.
I hate these racists who cant tell one Ctprus from another. BTW I quite happy about Ngog and hope he signs, I'm in the Echo camp and think he may just surprise a lot of people.
It's easier to abbreviate to syd syd that's all syd. My deepest apologies Cyprus didn't want to tar you with the syd brush. Will give Ngog a chance if he signs but my misgivings are he is a none scoring striker at Liverpool so what will he bring to us? I've heard he does put the effort in but for a 6 foot lad is not keen on heading the ball and can't pass for what Oscar is leaving above. This is all from Liverpool fans mate who are chuffed to bits that he could be going, also heard he has a problem with Bruce not too sure about that mind. For 1-2 mil would be worth a punt as a squad player but that is it.
I really hope he signs ASAP, not because I'm overly excited about him joining, but so that Gyan can see we are starting to bring people in and not just having a summer fire-sale. Remember when we came up and signed Bent, Cana, Catts? All of a sudden the place was buzzing, and players who would never have come here (Gyan, Sess) saw us as a club on the up and an attractive prospect. We need that feeling back after the sales of DB and JH. For me, pull out all the stops, bust the bank and get Sturridge or Welbeck (or both!!) in immediately if not sooner. I don't care if we have to pay £15m for each of them. We've got 24+16=40m. Now go and spend it.
As a Liverpool fan guys, I rate Ngog as a young player with bags of potential. He's gained valuable experience in the past 2 seasons, especially with Torres being injured and being the sole striker played up front. He seemed to be banging in the goals at 1 stage. It was tough for him, played as the only striker up front and with the team not playing well, it didn't bode well for him. He's young, hard working, has a bit of skill about him and has prem and european experience of goalscoring and to be honest, I think if he goes, with a run in the 1st 11, you'll see Ngog proving his worth. If he pumps some iron and makes himself stronger, he could be a fantastic striker. I will be keeping an eye on him and hope he does well for you.
With us we need players mate not players with potential we have lots of them to be honest. As for banging the goals in last season was it a full 3 in PL not exactly prolific, yes he scored a few in Europe but can't see us getting close to Europe anytime soon unless DFDS open a dock in Sunderland.
Liverpool 2008-09 season Manager Rafael BenÃtez hailed his scouting network after his signing, saying that "They are finding players like N'Gog, players with quality who are not a high price". N'Gog played his first game for Liverpool in a friendly game against Villarreal on 30 July 2008 and scored his first goal one game later against Rangers in another pre-season friendly. He then followed this up by scoring Liverpool's final goal in their next pre-season friendly, a 4–1 win over Norwegian side VÃ¥lerenga IF. He made his Premier League debut against Aston Villa, coming on as a substitute for Fernando Torres. N'Gog scored his first goal for Liverpool in their 3–1 victory over PSV Eindhoven in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League. N'Gog made his first start for Liverpool on 7 February 2009 against Portsmouth, and scored his first league goal on 3 March 2009 against Sunderland in a 2–0 win at Anfield. N'Gog scored his second league goal for the club on 11 April 2009 against Blackburn Rovers in an emphatic 4–0 win. 2009–10 season N'Gog scored his first goal of the new season with the final goal in a 4–0 home win against Stoke City. This was his fourth career goal for Liverpool, three of which came in league matches. The following month, he then went on to score the winning goal in a third-round League Cup game, to win 1–0 away against Leeds United. On 25 October, in a crucial game against Manchester United, he came on for goalscorer Fernando Torres at Anfield, scoring a goal in the 96th minute in the 2–0 win to seal an important victory for Liverpool. After the crunch tie, N'Gog said scoring the goal was "a fantastic moment for me and the team and I would say it's my best moment in football." He scored his fourth goal of the season on 9 November against Birmingham City before winning a controversial penalty that gave Liverpool a draw after Steven Gerrard converted from the spot. N'Gog then scored Liverpool's only goal in their next match away to Debrecen in the Champions League. Rafa Benitez showed his faith in N'Gog by handing him a start against Everton in the Merseyside derby;[citation needed] this match finished 2–0 to Liverpool. He scored his fourth league goal (six in total of the 2009-10 season) in a 2–1 victory over Wigan Athletic. N'Gog's goal nine minutes from time eventually broke the resistance of a determined Unirea Urziceni at Anfield in the Europa League. 2010–11 season On 29 July, N'Gog scored twice in Roy Hodgson's first competitive match as manager in Liverpool's UEFA Europa League third qualifying round first leg 2–0 win over Macedonian side FK Rabotnički.In the second leg of the tie played at Anfield, N'Gog scored the opening goal via a header and also won a penalty which Steven Gerrard scored, as Liverpool ran out 4-0 aggregate winners. N'Gog then scored again in Liverpool's opening match of the season at home to Arsenal in a 1-1 draw by turning past Thomas Vermaelen and rifling the ball into the top corner of the net past Arsenal goalkeeper Manuel Almunia. He was enjoying the best start to a Liverpool season before he was taken out of the squad that played West Brom for Fernando Torres. After being left out of the game against Birmingham City N'Gog shot to fire again in the Europa League, scoring two in Liverpool's 4-1 victory over Steaua Bucharest. He scored an extra-time equaliser in the League Cup defeat to Northampton Town to take the tie to penalties, but missed his penalty in the shootout, and played the remaining 35 minutes in the Reds' frustrating 2-2 draw against Sunderland at Anfield.[citation needed] On 3 October, he replaced the injured Fernando Torres after just 10 minutes in their 2-1 home loss to Blackpool.[citation needed] On 24 October, he replaced Joe Cole in the 80th minute in Liverpool's 2-1 Premier League win at Anfield against Blackburn Rovers. He replaced Cole for the second time, in Liverpool's 1-0 Premier League win against Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium on Halloween. N'gog was praised by Sam Allardyce for the way in which his introduction changed the game for Liverpool, indirectly leading to their late winner. On 7 June 2011, Sunderland A.F.C. accepted a bid for midfielder Jordan Henderson from Liverpool, the deal is reported to be worth £20m, including the transfer of N'gog to Wearside.
Now that's what I call going to the dogs! Regarding NGog, I too don't know enough about him to make an objective judgement on his abilities, but I do know that he is only about 21 years old and shouldn't be written off so early in his career as he has been by some on here.
That bottom paragraph is the most sense I have heard today, we wont get anywhere unless we are bold and act quick in the transfer market
