Who's opening with Cookie monster then? I think there should always be a place for a quickie

What I mean is Cook says there are still two TEST places to fight for. AN Other batsman and AN Other quick bowler after Anderson and Broad. Judging by various comments, mainly from 'Barlin' Shine' Warne, Root will open with Cook in the first test.

Yeah but if Root opens that only leaves a place at 6 surely. Cook, Root, Trott, KP, Bell, An Other. Does 6 require an out and out batsman (especially if Prior can get his act together with the bat)? Rather have an all rounder at 6.

"Another batsman" could mean Cook and Carberry open couldn't it (Carberry did get twice Roots total in the first tour game)? Just a thought.......as it happens I agree and think Root will open the first test at least.

When I said there should always be a place for a quickie....well that was supposed to be a joke <whistle>

Sorry Billy lad. It's been a long and very wet day<laugh>

300 without loss on the first day of the penultimate warm-up game, keep the form going lads..
Carberry hasn't done anything wrong in this two knocks, so could drop Root to No6, take Bairstows stop..
However, I'm a fan of Bairstow, didn't do much wrong in the summer and Root has looked decent (considering his inexperience at opening the batting) when up the order.

I listened to a couple of hours of it last night and the Aussies weren't enjoying it <laugh> Mad that they both finished on almost exactly the same score.

Cook - 154 n/o
Carberry - 153 n/o

Let's hope it continues like that. Personally I'd stick with this line up. Root coming in at 6 gives us runs galore from the top 6 or 7 (in theory).
