I thought they fought so that people had the right to voice an opinion in a free society, whether people like it or not, as opposed to having to stay quiet?

You are correct - that is why I expressed my opinion of the OP's post - in the same way as you have given your thought on my post. I might have made the mistake of elaborating on the subject - stating a significance of the ritual of wearing a poppy - I do so hope that I haven't offended anyone.

Correct, the husband was a unionist, the wife a nationalist so she insisted if they were to name it the crown that it must be at the front door so everyone can tread on it.

Drank in there a good few times, too busy for my liking. We were in it last summer and some ol fella had a go at my mate, can't remember the reason. Was barking on about the RA etc. despite him being about 70 odd, wobbly on his feet and in the midst of half dozen young unionists.
