Everyone's entitled to their opinions of course but I think it's more than a little harsh to suggest that people are mocking the dead by wearing a poppy. I wonder if the British Legion and its beneficiaries would be pleased if we all agreed with the author and honoured the dead and ageing surviors by refusing to buy them?
It wasn't the flower wearing the bar man took offence to, it was the defilement of the Queen's English.

I don't wear a poppy, as I have the right not to.
I did 'buy' one the other day though, the wummin came to the door and it would be kinda awkward not to.

My local Catholic church sells poppies and at one mass on Rememberance Sunday has a bugler playing the Last Post. There are some who donlt like it - not one little bit.

I try to do both (Church on the 1st and the 2nd and what have you) but yeah that's a fair comment.
