Thing is, though, Drogs (and all joking aside), you have absolutely zero chance of ever signing Messi, whereas it is not beyond the realms of possibility that we might secure the signature of Mata.

You think Chelsea would sell him to Tottenham?

You guys are rivals by virtue of being two high profile London clubs. Mouriho might like to play mind games but he'd never sanction selling a player of Mata's quality to Spurs.

If you read my earlier comments, you would have noted that I have already conceded that Mad Dog is unlikely to sanctions a transfer to us, which is why I would hope that Mata did the right thing by putting in a transfer request, to force the Mad Russian's hand. Or go on strike.

Vlad Chiriches is looking quite the player. I hope in a few years time he can get his dream move to Chelsea. <ok>

I'd love to see Chelsea line up with Chirches and Luiz in defence so I'm not opposed to this despite it being an attempt to wum :D

Why not? Have you forgotten some of your transfer dealings in the past, such as...
Sturridge to Liverpool
Cudicini to Spurs
Diarra to Arsenal
Gallas to Arsenal

So because you're 4th that automatically means you're not **** to watch does it <laugh>

It was your comparison with Stoke that I was commenting on. Stoke play(ed) dull football but it got them nowhere. We, like Arsenal under George Graham and Chelsea under several managers, are playing dull football and winning.

It's not pretty, but it'll do until the pretty stuff returns. Which it will.
