Watch the match again and see the amount of fetching, carrying, off the ball runs & defending Altidore does -I just shake my head when this type of performance gets waved aside.

Colback was very good too, Johnson showed more promise(undeniably went awol for goal though but hey it was of no consequence) - on the whole a lot more plusses than minuses today.

Reasons to be cheerful

 

It must have been the right decision, we won. if Borini hadn't scored, I agree with you it was the wrong decision, but that's where managers earn their crust, making brave decisions. Personally I don't think it was the game for Ki, I agree with Johnson off for Borini, but would have kept the middle two the same to counter the threat of Ben Arfa and Cabaye.

 

Agree mate. He's still not getting the ball into his feet enough, defo more to come from him.

Fletcher was busting a gut to get into the box from a similar starting position.
Altidore was no where to be seen when the crosses came in.

If Borini hadn't have decided to run in like he did, Altidores loose control would have led to nowt.

I will look again at Alti cos a thought he was garbage apart from a few good touches. Don't want to knock any player or have any negativity today/tonight on this board and thought he was poor. I'd like to point out that I had also only had 2 pints. So I was sober.

I thought Altidore was poor today mind. Tough game to be judged given service, but his first touch is awful. We can't just excuse players because they graft.

But I'm on a high so can discuss negatives later.

I like Jozy. Work ethic is always key for a player, from there you can push onwards, he'll get there for sure.

Sorry but I see Jozy as a sort of Heskey - without the falling over.

A massive unit and so so keen, but not many goals.

A handful for defences - which is good for the other attackers

Got to say yes he was MOTM for me and I think he is poor in the CM role, big well done to the lad.

 

if we give him a chance he will do okay.

Still no acknowledgement for his touch to Borini to set up the goal, several brave defensive clearances...............oh why do I bother, MR says he is right.......

 

Hope so. One goal might be all he needs and his confidence will soar. Like the little Brucie thing at the end mind.
