I'll bite. Kids disappear a lot. It's a sad situation but the media circus surrounding this particular one is disproportionate.

Nope wasn't a joke. I just wondered what other people felt on the subject. My own feelings are her parents are fortunate they didn't leave the poor girl alone in the UK. As they would have been charged and rightly so, yes it isn't their fault their girl went missing but they did leave her alone in the first place.

That's the thing that pisses me off about it. They come across as media whores.

I'll bite back. Maybe it is disproportionate. That's not the family's fault. They will do anything to get their child back.

    Compassion and Empathy.

Probably won't get a PS4 for a while. There's no games in the launch lineup that I really want to play.

I'm really not that excited about the PS4, but if they realease a new Red Dead Redemption for it, then I might get a little worked up.

English and Polish FAs charged over flares at Wembley. Annoyingly this will probably mean a step up in security with sniffer dogs at each gate...meaning that all fans will be held up because of a few idiots.

So I'm the only one who thinks the parents did it?

Im not with you or against you GBS, both the McCanns are intelligent Professional people, I think its Empathy that have stopped them hung out to dry.
I wonder if the Press would have give same amount of exposure and sympathy to this story, if they were regular people, maybe a bit ugly or poor.

I think the McCanns have been investigated and interrogated so thoroughly that there can surely be no evidence that they did it. True, they left their kids alone when they went for a drink, which most people, especially parents, would say is pretty dodgy, but that is a long, long way from being implicated in murder or abduction. I think the reverse of the Wikipedia article is true in your case GBS, I think you are being a bit prejudiced against the McCanns simply because they are white middle class British parents. And while it is true that children go missing or are abused or murdered the time, I can't think of a single case where the publicity hasn't at least equalled that given to the Madeleine case. This has been in the media spotlight so long because there haven't been any leads for so long, as well as the sideshow about the McCanns' treatment by the media and their campaign to keep the investigation from being closed down.

There's no doubt the McCanns have had a lot of exposure. As mentioned above, they are both professional people, able to express themselves adequately well and without emotion [which helps along the 'they could have done away with her' theories], and they have been coveting the media because they know it is their best chance of getting their child back [if they didn't bump her off]. If I was in their position I would do the same. I wouldn't go quietly. Knowing me, I would perhaps show more emotion, but there are all kinds of people out there. Ones that blub when they look at a squirrel eating a nut to ones that would never be able to appreciate the horror of what it is like to lose a loved one or loved ones and not know whether they are alive, dead, happy or in constant torment.

I see that police raided a 3D printing gun factory the other night. They found no 3d printed guns, but what they did find was a 3D printer. OK, we can chuckle a bit. Pure 3D printed firearms are said to be thoroughly inaccurate [I would imagine so], as they have insufficient strength to withstand the explosive forces of the charge. Also, the barrels are of a 'use once' variety, if any accuracy is required.

As yet, I am not concerned with the mass production of 3D printed guns, though they will undoubtedly improve, as all designs tend to do. What I am concerned with is that the plans for the one that works well enough to use, the Liberator, are out there, and could easily fall into the hands of someone who wants to use it just the once. Under the right circumstances they can be fatal. One only need kill someone once.

It's such a difficualt and horrid thing .

I once thought the parents did it , but have not thought so for quite a while now , as Chilco says they have been investigated so much .

I agree with Beefy , each time I see it I think oh FFS give it a rest & what about all the other children that have gone missing ?, I take TSS's point , but I am talking purely about me .

One case that always springs to Mind is the Susiue Lamplugh case . Her mum died not knowing what happened to her daughter , but every time Susi's name was mentioned , it was a reminder ( not that her mum would ever forget ) is that good ?

Sorry if my post makes no sense , but is is my thoughts .

Thing is even if they are inaccurate they can still kill. There should be some kind of thing that stops weapons being made by it. But while USA are still obsessed with guns this will never happen.

3D printing is pretty scary, and I'm not even normally a technophobe. Plenty of weapons other than just firearms that can be created - the question is how could it possibly be regulated?

It could drastically change our society and I'm not just talking about weapons. It's surely leading to an age where we can just print everything we need and not have to buy anything. We'll need an economy that's not fueled by commerce because the one we have now would collapse. That revolution Russell Brand was talking about may not be far off.
