Well gotta say i have read some **** threads, but this has to be one of the worst.

Flyer- when was the last time you saw a white monkey?
Roy, is to stupid to be racist, but as husky says. it shows what was accepted as the norm in times gone past
Col- superb post. I couldnt give a toss about the rest, only that HR has got us winning and playing well.

Flyer & some others, how will you as a white person ever understand the true feelings, emotions, thoughts, history etc concerned when it comes to racism. Some of us see it every day without you even noticing. And im only mixed race.
Because you have coloured friends?....yeah right..that makes you ok !!
Some people do take offence to being called coloured (not me personally), chinky etc. is it acceptable to call you "honky" because that was done in the past?

The ignorance of some knows no bounds....

The colour of skin has nothing to do with looking like a monkey. So are you telling me Bale doesnt look like a monkey then or that only the white version of him would look like one?

I was called honky all the time at school by a mate who was born in Figi. To us, terms like that were no different than ginger tosser or fatboy.

and yet again with the deflection behaviors. Swords, you're so very predictable. This is yet another of your common practices. You're getting dull now.And if you can point to a post on this thread where I have in any way been personally abusive to you, please do so. Stating that I am not going to post an opinion is hardly being abusive, is it? Unless you think you nkow what my opinion is, in which case there's something for you to ponder...

You seem to be the only one on here who thinks Hodgson was being racist. Its silly accusations like that that take away from genuine racist accusations.

Stan Collymore, Martin Jol, our own manager, even Townsend himself have all dismissed it as errant nonsense. Nobody on here has cried racism except you, yet you make me out to be the unreasonable one!

You're totally out of step mate.

Its not right! It cheapens the real problems. I would happily explain my comments. The only way we change racism in society is to confront it when we see it. If the anti racism campaigners allianate its supporters like me by the way the seem to stick their hand up and cry offside before hearing all the facts, then they run the risk of having less not more support by the balanced fair minded people of this country

Nail hit firmly on head. This sort of crap just makes a mockery of the whole anti racism issue.
A stupid, inoffensive story about a f****** space monkey makes front page headlines, where as a story about Asian letting agents not allowing Black people to rent homes goes mostly unreported.
As The Specials sang....'Its all a load of bollox, and bollox to it all'

Sorry? I've posted numerous times on this thread that I DON'T think he was being racist. Such as:

This was a throwaway 'joke' where, whilst he really should have known better, there was certainly no offence intended and none taken. However, someone in that dressing room thought it warranted sharing, and as such who's to say no offence was given? Until we know who reported it and why, nobody can say.

I would say that Hodgson's 'joke' was ill-advised, and had he thought about it at all, he wouldn't have told it.

Is Hodgson racist? No, I don't think so - he's just old-school. Is that an excuse if any offence was given? No, and the apology was warranted, immediately given, and all sorted.

You want to read stuff before you post, Swords. You, I, and everyone else knows you're just trying to wind me up. And you've chosen a subject that you know I feel strongly about, simply to make yourself feel better. That's such a sad thing for a grown man to be doing, you know?

This was your very first post on the matter (indeed the first post from anyone) which prompted me to reply.

At least he doesn't make racist jokes in his half-time team talks...

Oh don't be such a big baby. You're acting like you've no control over yourself. Don't allow yourself get so wound up, you're not a child.

And I don't care how strong you feel about something. If you're talking balderdash, which Staines has perfectly illustrated above, I'll pull you up on it.

Who the hell appointed you my thought policeman? What on earth gives you the right to decide that you should be able to berate me for expressing an opinion, when you are also having a go when people call you on yours? Hypocritical doesn't even come close to covering it.

You have a history of being banned from this forum because you keep baiting individuals - it's a bad habit you have, in common with loads of others across the internet who clearly have no way of getting any real satisfaction out of their real lives and so get their jollies hiding behind a pseudonym and acting as if the other person they are attacking isn't a real person. You know that some people feel extremely strongly about certain issues, and those are the people you specifically attack. Those who don't really care get left alone. It's typical behaviour that you have displayed time and again, and ultimately it results in a ban for you. Every single time.

It's just a matter of time with you, isn't it?

WLW, just put the chelsea troll on your ignore list, you will waste a lot less time that way.

Doesn't work that way - I can still see he's posting stuff, just not what - so the assumption has to be that it's his usual abuse (and 99.9% of the time, I'm right.) I'm not prepared to allow him to write what he wants about me without responding, and I'm not prepared to give up the site just to avoid him.

You seriously need to grow up. If you post a controversial opinion like you did here - IE the first poster on the Board to comment on the Hodgson affair - you can't then complain when someone disagrees with you. You said he was telling racist jokes, I said that was nonsense. Then, predictably, you lost the head.

I'm signing off this thread now because you're clearly not capable of discussing things in an adult manner without throwing your toys out of the pram.

The last word is yours.

Thats how trolls work, the way to get back is not to respond. If you ignore him, he will just move onto someone else.

I spoke too soon.

"In the four-page complaint, Race for Sport, an off-shoot of the Society for Black Lawyers, says the decision to consider the matter closed is "unacceptable". It also demands "cultural intelligence" training for Hodgson and all football managers."

Pricks.

My last word (unless you weren't being truthful with your intentions) is again - read what I wrote. I said that Redknapp wasn't telling racist jokes. That's all. I have never, on this thread or elsewhere, said that Hodgson is/was racist. Your spin on what I wrote, twisted for your intended controversial effect..

Anyway - thanks for the input, it's been unvaluable....

I refer you to my previous post!! These comments will alienate the masses of well balanced people who support anti racism

I cannot believe what I am reading on here by some of you. the only person who should have been offended by the joke is Smalling as the point he was making was give the ball to Townsend as he can do things you cant. I am 46 years old and for years I have called naughty/playful kids, my own included "cheeky little monkeys". the fact that football(racist fans) have hijacked the word monkey does that make me racist. It refers to the antics and behaviour that relate to the said animal. So when coaching a group of kids at football and they are being a bit rowdy and I call them cheeky monkeys, should I expect to be hauled in front of the PC brigade if some of my players are black.
Lets get some context. I am white and never have or will be racist. I have seen racism of the worst kind when playing football and it sickens me. I dont have to be black to know when i see it and that its wrong. The way to tackle it is to confront it when you see and to trivialise racism the way it has been by some on here is reckless.

Good post sir.

My mate once got disciplined as a teacher for calling a student a "cheeky monkey" He was 1/8th black and clearly there was no racial connotations but the loony left head master went into PC mode.

Also, this was the school that had the pupils riot because they werent allowed a snooker table so that tells you what type of ship they ran.

I have been reading this thread with interest and have, until now, decided not to get involved in the silliness.

However, this latest quote highlighted by Flyer is ridiculous. What they are basically saying is that the word "monkey" should be eradicated, we can no longer use the word at all. If it's cold outside we can't say it's "brass monkeys", by the sound of it we can't go to the zoo and say we are going to look at those...........what are they called now, there's spider, marmoset, emporer, squirrel I just wish there was a collective name for that group of primates. Oh wait there once was but because a group of disgusting people decided to use that word in a racial way the rest of society isn't allowed to use it??

NASA originally sent a dog into space, if that dog was intelligent, or dexterous, enough to push some buttons (the monkey never did that either by the way despite what Karl Pilkington might think) then the joke's punchline could have quite easily have been "Just keep feeding the dog". It's the same joke, it's meant in the same way and yet nobody would have a single problem with it.

This non-story making headlines all week is is just detracting from real racism that, unfortunately, is still in our society.

A man and the dog are sent into space in a brand new, state of the art spaceship...when NASA are asked why they sent the dog with the spaceman, they say....the man is there to feed the dog...and the dog is there to bite the man if he tries to touch anything!!
Is that racist, is that funny...I dunno

I work in a lab and do diagnostic tests....the clinicians who ask for the tests call us "lab monkeys"

Should I get upset

I'm too scared to go into Curry's and ask for one of those George Foreman grillers now.
