Don't know if it's been mentioned but this is the figure that ssn just announced. To be fair, Im well happy with this deal. Ngog might not set the world alight, but we need a squad and he's good enough to be part of it. And 16 million! If we are to be honest, hendo hasn't done too much really to warrant this fee. He's been bigged up by Quinn and bruce, and always said they would sell him at the right price. In reality, he has no skill, no pace, can't cross a ball, can rarely beat a player and can't tackle. But has great work rate and keeps the game flowing well. I wish him all the best though, great lad, done well for us, and got us 16 mill. I hope he proves me wrong and sets the world alight, coz of the raw commitment from the boy. But great selling from the club, 16 mill for a player who at the moment is just average. Dosent mean we are a selling club, the money will be reinvested and invested in quality I hope
Might not seem a lot of difference between £13mil and £16mil but it does. Paying around £4million for N'Gog is almost half what people were saying with £7million. I really hope he comes here and does well. I'll support him from the minute he arrives and I hope he can develop as he is still just 23 and I've read Liverpool fans who say they still think he'll turn out to be a decent striker with game time and confidence. Now we MUST reinvest the £16million on quality and quantity. We need to look at free transfers to pad out the squad and we need to pool this money together with the B£nt money and bring in a couple of top players.
At this current time i would take Kenny's experienced football knowledge over yours any day! Glad you all seem to be wishing him well though, unlike those strange Geordie's with regards to the Carroll saga. Hopefully, N'gog might come good for you, he's young and i believe got potential, he just needs to be given a good run of games.
Skylarker. Yeah of course, I'm not kenny daglish, but I have watched every game this season and the last. And think I have a good idea to what makes a average, good and great player. And Henderson I don't think can be great, I hope he does, but I very much doubt. And if I lost Carroll as a geordie fan I would be bitter like them, the reason I'm not bitter about Henderson because he's no where near as good Carroll. Two different players of course. But if swap carroll for hendo and give liverpool 15 million.
It's definitely not 16m: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...dan-Henderson-snapped-Liverpool-16m-deal.html
gb - Carroll looked good in a poor team for half a season. Henderson looked good for a season and a half in an average side and had a poor end to the season (probably down to bad management frpom Brucie - I am in the Bruce in brigade BTW but think he could've managed Hendo better in the latter half of the season) Carroll hasn't looked anywhere near since moving to Liverpool except for one good game his touch has been poor and he has been injured for majority of the time.
£16 million and N'Gog is not a bad deal at all. If it had been £13million and N'Gog, it would have been ****. We'll see how N'Gog goes, and if he doesn't work, we'll see most of £4million back easily. Simple.
9 goals in 23 starts is not a bad return for any player, and with N'gog only being 21 he would not be a bad 3rd or 4th choice forward. However the echo states that the Henderson deal is £20 million regardless how the N'gog deal pans out. We still have to go through the process of agreeing a fee, salary etc.... like any other transfer deal.
This is from Quinns mouth and i believe and trust he will do what is right for the club after all he is not lining his pockets and has never been one to bull**** the fans
Can't we just stop going on about how much this deal is. Let's be honest neither us, the press or anybody except the two clubs know the real details. For the rest of us it is pure speculation. There are so many different figures flying about my head is spinning.
Agreed! Fingers crossed for N'Gog turning out well, and best of luck to Jordan. He was always going to move on in the future, we got a good price for him, and here's hoping for a long and successful career at the top level for the lad.
Dont mind Henderson going at all - its Liverpool, its more money, its a move up. Dont get me started on B£nt tho.
The ngog story seems to have gone quiet. Maybe its just 16m cash. It's a cracking deal in my opinion.
This is the worst assessment of Henderson every. Can't cross, yes he can, can't pass eh? Agreed he isn't the best tackler ever. Look at Henderson's stats 5th in the prem for chances created and he plays for us. He is 20. he will go on to play for England. I dispair at some Sunderland supporters....ffs
Quinny spins a good yarn and could sell sand to the Arabs but its actions we need to see now not blarney. We keep talking a good fight but never deliver one. Cowie and Murray were superstar bull-****ters. I hoped Quinny would be different but all I see tonight is a club happy to cash in on its best assets and then trying to convince everyone that the replacements are really really good? N'Gog? Wes 'sick note' Brown? Utd reject Gibson? Mmmmmmm. I smell bull **** aplenty from the club but they will dress it up very nicley to mask the stench.
Seems I will watch more Blyth Spartans and Ashington next year, than Sunderland, Nearly 63, had my belly full of charletons over the years, managers who had no nous, no ambition, with the exception of Bob Stokoe, the rest have been dire, wake up Quinnie, or risk losing your halo.
It'd noyt about losing Henderson for me. More to do with the quality of a replacement like N'Gog. There is no loyalty in football at all these days. I don't expect any and we don't get any.
