He's worth **** & you know it, however as his contract is up next summer, I think most people would be happy with 500k than nothing next summer.
Unfortunately, I think you're correct. If we can get some decent wedge (500k would be) and a sell on clause - then we have to be happy with that.
Good opportunity to get a decent amount of money for him (750k) while he's playing regularly in the Championship and before his contract runs out. We aren't going to renew given our strength in MF. Who's he going to replace.? At best he's a bench sitter. Wish him well but he certainly isn't Prem standard.
I think Cairney will be gone in January. I also think it's the one that might come back and bite us on the arse, the lad definitely has talent and is capable of Premier League football. I just hope we get a half decent fee, along with a sell-on clause.
I think the problem is he isnt a patch on Thudd or Livermore (assuming we manage to sign him) so thats the starting midfield places sorted. If we pick up injuries we have Quinn and Koren who can also play in centre mid, so its a case of, even though he is a decent prospect (can you still be a prospect at his age?) he isnt going to get the game time here. Personally, I would like to keep him on loan for the next year or so as a replacement for Koren.
I think we might end up looking at this the way Saints fans look at they Bale deal. Not quite as extreme, but I think he'll carry on this form, move for a decent amount and do very well in the EPL. Then he'll go to Barcelona for £95m
