Hey, what about Hoover in this Fonte-Maya-Lovren-love-in ? - he proved in the second half of last season he is Premier quality, and personally, I couldn`t fit a *** paper between Jos, Jose and Maya. And has Lovren ever scored on a Tuesday ?
Shows our depth. None of our CBs are brilliant but they're all of around the same quality and work well together. Lovren and Yoshida may be our best two, but Lovren and Fonte have, so far, been our pairing so MP must see them as the best partnership.
I think someone asked José and hugely annoyingly he said it was Font, but he didn't care, so as far as I'm concerned it's still Fontay. If someone spelling their name Mainwaring can be called Mannering, instead of Mane-Wearing, or one called Bough can be Boff instead of Bow, then Font can be Fonté, even though José doesn't have an accent in his surname to let us off.
He has been immense but I don't think we have seen the defence properly tested. Liverpool got in behind quite a lot and we defended that threat quite well but that has been the only consistent threat so far.
Maybe they have, but we have been so good we haven't noticed. Chances not materialising to shots etc. Ahhhhhh........
I don't think anyone can deny that all four centre backs are premiership quality. Trouble is you can not play them all.......Fonte has clearly upped his game and the pairing with Lovren has been exceptional. I think it would be folly to change a winning partnership. Thankfully we have the depth now in this position to cover for injuries etc. Mind you who ever drops out for whatever reason just might have a job to get back in!!
Jos and Maya will play in the League cup and just have to keep fit and ready in case of injury/poor form in Lovren and Jose. Be hard to break into a successful partnership. Strange to think that not long ago we were worried about the defence.
I've never stopped singing his praises! Remember his goal against Brighton? Ahhh. He dragged us over the finish line that season. It was amazing to think that he signed for us from the Championship to League One with a long-term vision of us far and away surpassing their achievements.
Yeah, the good thing is that, with the exception of Fonte and Yoshida, Maya and Jos is our next best partnership as shown at the tail end of last season.
