Technically, I'm a "statistical programmer" for a year, not a student. I'm an official employee who has to keep a logbook and gets paid less, but definitely not a student.

I was a cucumber picker in Welton for a year, I suspect that was more interesting.

And I don't want to put you all off your favourite take-aways, but Chinese fella's used to come and take rejected cucumbers out the skips to thicken up curry's.

I did something similar for a day... didn't go back
I once did some work at the Ginsters factory. All I'm saying is that I've never eaten a Ginsters pastie since.
My uncle once went to a factory where they made Russian Slice cakes, it used to be his favourite cake, but he never ate it again.
Though as he knew it was cake made out of old stale buns, I'm not sure exactly what he was expecting.
Anyone know if you can still get Russian Slice, I can't remember seeing it for years?

I used to work at Dunswell/Woodmansey, on tomatoes. Absolutely loved tomatoes, ever since. I've 19 varieties on the go at the moment and have sold loads of plants off my roadside stall.
I worked the packing plant (in Brough). I lasted a day. It's nice to see that the next generation of children won't have to suffer the tedium, with it all having been replaced by identikit slaveboxes.
yeah I just didn't like it, also worked in the Fish Factory for a month as well, all before University, glad I don't have to do that any longer
yes, down a bottle of Smirnoff, stumble onto the driving range and open up the club face of your 7 iron and give it a wild lash..

Someone must remember eating Russian Slice as a kid?
It had loads of different coloured cake marbled together with an iced top and was based on a traditional Russian cake recipe to use up stale cakes(The original was heavily laced with vodka, though I believe Skeltons left this out of their version).
Skeltons, Beverley? used to buy them there for lunch when I did my work experience at County Hall in 1990. they still made them even up to a couple of years ago.. will ask my sister..
