Well, I've read that Bentaleb (spelling?) is in the squad, so that cheers me up. Here's hoping some more yoof are too.

AVB must stick to his word and not play any starter from the Cardiff game.

Friedel, Ward/Ball/other 'yoof', Kaboul/yoof, Vlad, Fryer; Holtby, Sandro, Lamela, Kane, Chadli/yoof, Defoe/yoof.

I have just been watching Bentaleb playing at our training ground so I very much doubt he will be at Villa Park tonight.

Do you know if he has been training with the first team lately? I thought I saw him in a training photo with a load of first team players last week.

AVB has a policy to try and integrate fringe players and youth players into the first team training sessions when he feels he can. For example, a 5 aside game to end training, will often have as the outfield players, 2 first teamers, a fringe player and a youth player. So 2 youth players and 2 fringe players will take part in each session. The next day it will be a different set of players. Sometimes these players are invited to join in the whole session rather than enter at the end when they play 5 aside. When this happens, it doesn't follow that these players are on the brink of a first team call up, merely a natural and easy way of helping them along.

I don't know if Bentaleb has joined in recently, quite probably he has.

Thanks as always, SO.

I found the pic, not even sure it's him now(at the front) :D

Bentaleb will have to have amazing stamina if he's playing tonight, as he played earlier today, too! <laugh>
The OS has just put up a report of a Spurs XI match v Brighton. Finished 1-0 with Bentaleb scoring the only goal.
Spurs XI: Archer, Ward, Veljkovic, Ball (Gallifuoco 66), Dombaxe (McEneff 61), Bentaleb, McEvoy, Lameiras, Dawkins, McQueen D (Coulthirst 52), Lancaster.

Big traffic problems on the M6 for our travelling fans this evening. Fingers crossed they all arrive safely and in time for kick off.

Friedel (c), Walker, Chiriches, Vertonghen, Fryers, Sandro, Paulinho, Lamela, Holtby, Kane, Defoe.

Strong side, like it <ok>

Might've rested Walker and played Naughton there though.

That'll do. Looking forward to this actually, lots of points of interest:

i) Sandro and Paulinho pairing
ii) First glimpse of Chiriches
iii) 90 mins for Lamela
iv) Kane and Fryers

This looks like a 442 though, I don't like Holtby on the left.

And yeah, a bit tough on Walker, and Vertonghen who played most of the Europa game.

Naughton played against Tromso and Cardiff.

I'm not surprised Naughton got dropped, really - his back passing really is abysmal, as Tromso and Cardiff were both added to the list of teams gifted opportunities by him in the last week.

We finished the game against Cardiff with Lamela on the right, Holtby in the centre and Kane on the left. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the plan today too.

Especially pleased to see Defoe back.

Yeah but on the right he does okay. I just figured with Rose expecting to be back for Chelsea we could give Walker the night off, if he gets injured I think we're in more trouble than we would be if anyone else in the line up did.

I wish the Beeb would stop calling us 'Spurs' in a formal setting (the team news), they went to the trouble of writing 'Aston Villa' so I'm sure they could manage 'Tottenham' at the least.

Sandro and Paulinho team mates, must be a misprint as thought they where enemies.
