Like the others have said, he struggled to settle initially due to a new child, moving ect. Add to that the termoil the club was in, and lets be honest no one other the Barmby and Koren looked decent at the start of the season. Further to that he had no really partner up front, then we bring in two strikes (just as he finds form) and he gets dropped.

For me, he and Fryatt could be immence next season. With a fit again Stewart, Koren or another equally good winger, and creative midfielder such as Danns supplying them, he and Fryatt could get 25+ between them. Support them with Dudgeon and Roseinor getting us more width and McClean and Howard/Harewood/Abebola on the bench we could have an entertaining season.
 
Simpson has not got it imo. He has a 1 goal in 6 game ration for Millwall; 1 in 13 for West Brom; 1 in 3 for QPR and 1 in 5 for us.
My Didgeridoo will gather dust this season. Have no worries about that.
We still need a couple up front as Fryatt is average for this league where Simpson, McLean and Cullen are well below.

I think we'll see Cullen again in a city shirt, can see him being shipped out on loan to a league 1/2 club. He's still young and would be foolish to get rid of him whilst he's sill pretty young. However, if we see no improvement in the next 2 years then yeah, get rid. Simpson has the potential to do well for us next season, we've already seen what Matty can do in front of goal and Mclean has being disappointing but we'll see what the bloke can do after he's had pre season here. I wouldn't be suprised to see us sign another striker though.

Those figures are a bit of a fiddle, as he wasn't playing as a striker in the majority of them.

At Millwall he was only 18, he played on the wing yet still scored 7 in 41 games and won the PFA League One player of the season.

At West Brom he was again played on the wing and got little game time, almost all his league appearances were from the bench(often replacing Koren).

QPR was the first time he played as a regular striker and as mentioned, he scored almost one in three.

He certainly had a slow start with us and he's obviously not as good as Fryatt, but I certainly don't think he's a write off, he linked up brilliantly with Stewart and I'm not unhappy that he's in the squad. He's certainly better than Mclean and I don't think Cullen will be in figuring in our plans at all for next season.

He also looked ridiculously overweight when he joined us compared to when I saw him playing for QPR. Based on his performances when I saw him for them I'd rate him as highly as Fryatt, granted he hasn't performed at that level for us yet but we've mentioned the various issues affecting that and hiis weight did seem to come off by Xmas.
 
If we do not get another striker (or two) prior to kick-off next season and Simpson is the preferred option up front with Fryatt, then I can see us struggling in the bottom half of the table. We had a 'top 4' (I believe) Defensive record last season and close to 'bottom 4' in Attack so it is obvious where we have to improve and so far we haven't. I do hope that some of the rumours about 'targeted strikers' come true.
