Top teams will have different types of players who adhere from their strategy in order to make their strategy effective. An attacking midfield, is not strengthened by making everyone attacking midfield. It is instead strengthened by a striker like Bony who the defense can't ignore and who can either finish or play the ball back to a charging Michu or Pozuelo or Chico Florez.

Bony has been good for the team, he even have the goals to show for it. One or 2 more of his attempts turned goals would have everyone agree on his success.

Bony will come good. I like the way he can get a powerful shot off with minimum back-lift and he's always in there sniffing as a good striker should. He's strong, occupies defenders to create space for others and is good in the air - uses this to good effect when helping defend set pieces.

He needs time to develop an understanding with Michu and the others. When he does and starts getting some decent service, Bony will start hitting the net on a regular basis. I will be surprised if he gets less than 12 goals in the league and he might well get a few more than that. He just needs time, not snap judgements.

Give him a chance eight yards out and I reckon he'll break the net!

This all reminds me of when we rolled Scotland out, the same negativity came from Dai & Co, we all remember how it took Scotland half a season to adjust to the Championship, and Bony will need at least 10 games to find a footing at this level, be patient those who think he will not make it, and lets hope that service to him improves! I have confidence in the boy will come good.......................<ok>

In 470 mins played with Bony on the pitch we have scored 12 times. In 250 without him we have scored once! I'm convinced he'll bag his share, and when he doesn't the stats indicate that someone else will IF he's on the field! <ok>

Can't believe all this anti-Bony crap!! He WILL give defences something to worry about - he WILL score goals - he WILL create space for our other forwards! Daddy Cool is fecking cool, so get behind him! He is a big, strong Jack bastard and he will be so good for us!

I'm just staggered that anyone could possibly think that he hasn't improved significantly since the first game. Do people watch us play with their eyes closed or what?

In addition Bony is very good defending at set pieces such as corners and free kicks.

Its far too early to say he isnt going to make it and I predict he will get 12 - 15 goals this season. He is a real problem for the other sides central back 2, this was evident at Spurs we looked toothless up front till Bony came on as sub and he clearly made a difference.

As Ivor says he has a valuable skill in being able to get a shot off with minimum back-lift and this will catch out a few keepers this season. We MUST however get some decent balls into the box though - our crossing in the Liverpoool game, especially in the 1st half, was not good too many over hit balls or too much pace and too far in front of Bony and Michu.

Keep the faith the boy will come good!

There is also another factor to take into consideration. Opposition defence.

We have played 4 teams that finished above us last season, why are we expecting him to do better against these teams (in fact I think he has been great) surely those not convinced should at least wait around to see what he does against the teams more around us before passing judgement, ya know, the Norwich's, Sunderland's, the teams without the top talent defenders, that actually know what they are doing.

The price tag has raised expectations and rightly so. But remember some players take longer to settle in and get used to a team and the way they play, others less so. We don't have quality crossers of the ball on the pitch by and large and that will hurt a guy who scores a lot with his head so he won't do as well here as he did at Vitesse imo. The standard of defending is also much higher (Skrtel's tackle being an example - wow what a tackle that was). Put all that with the fact that we've played mainly high quality opposition in Man U, Spurs and Liverpool and we shouldn't be too harsh on the new man.

Of course he isn't quick enough and his touch lets him down at times but if he scores 15 or so goals this season we'll forgive him that. From what I've seen so far he will do that I think. Without a doubt he is the best player we have on holding up the ball with his back to goal. He is like the proverbial brick ****house.

Oh and lastly, NJ is right. <laugh>

    Have Faith !

Laudrup and Curt have the perfect credentials to coach the final 3rd link-up play !!

I have faith in the Skeleton, damn I think I tipped him for 22 goals, as mentioned in a lot of posts, needs a good crosser. why don't we have a midfielder who can cross the ball??

Calm down, Lone, no need to blow a fuse. I can confirm that I watch all games with my eyes open wide.

I'm not advocating dropping him, benching him, ditching him or whatever, as clearly a handful of games is not any basis to make a qualified judgement. But after his initial flurry in the Europa League against teams which are clearly not Prem standard he hasn't shown me much to suggest that he will score loads of goals on a regular basis. It's just a niggling doubt at this moment in time.

He has many good attributes as other posters have mentioned. Very strong, powerful shot, holds up play well, creates space for others, creates goals for others, good at defensive clearances etc etc. The fact that he's come up against Man Utd and Liverpool's defences so far has obviously made life more difficult for him.

My slight concern, as others have mentioned, is that our style of play doesn't suit him outright and he's not getting many chances for himself in a game. Perhaps my choice of words 'I haven't seen any improvement from his first appearance to yesterdays' wasn't the best but I'm sure you can get my drift.

The thing i don't like about bony is his price tag of £12 million, It is madness for us to pay that amount and give him such a long contract and the wages to go with it.....I have not seen him being anything special or done anything outstanding that suggests he is worth £12 million....He is slow and overweight for premiership football and he has been here long enough now to see what he can do....I don't think jinx is too pleased either and i don't blame him....

His view is irrelevant. If Laudrup thinks he's good enough for us and will deliver the goals we need that's good enough for me.
I can't believe how much power he generates when striking the ball from almost standing still positions. Would like to see how quick he hits the ball when running onto a shot <ok>
