He hasn't been in the squad because he's been injured and he's not good back up because he's error prone!
Sorry but you don't know what your talking about. Vermaelen hasn't been injured for the last 6 months. His form at the start of last season wasn't good enough, him and Sagna made several individual errors which lead to goals. Vermalaeen was DROPPED for the Kosc-Mert partnership and never regained his place in the team. He is currently comming back from a short term injury which had nothing to do with him being dropped. If he can recapture the form he had prior to his achilles injury, when he was competing with Vidic for best defender in the league, (and i think without the pressure of being captain he might) then he will be a fantastic back-up to have. As for Sagna he was returning from 2 leg brakes in a row. Hardly suprising his form wasn't up to scratch. By christmas this was no longer an issue and he had recovered his form from previous seasons.
you know it's an international break when Arsenal's defence (1 decent CB, no LB, aging RB, no GK) can generate multiple pages of posts
It's WUM comments like this that continue driving it all though We have three centre backs that are as good as any at Liverpool, a Spanish international left back, the future England international left back, the French national right back who is 30, the future England international right back and the best GK in the world
Koscheilny is like the white Titus Bramble, top five in the world? He would be lucky to make the top 500 in the world.
Don't think anyone (unless its a blatant WUM) are disagreeing that you have decent options at CB, like we do, just the claim that chap with the name I can't spell is a top 5 defender.. Must admit, I do like Gibbs, quality player, by the time Cole quits, Baines would be too old so he could be England's next LB.. however the chap from Southampton, Shaw? he's decent and younger than Gibbs, may give him a fight for the LB slot.
I think due to the ages of the current lot of LB's for England that Gibbs will have his chance to make the spot his own before Shaw is involved in the England mix properly. And in the England team players tend to keep there place for a long time once they have made it there own. Shaw looks a great prospect though, hope he continues to improve this season and get game time.
Check out your transfer thread and come back and answer your own question. There are posters on there suggesting making a bid for Suarez or even Falcao () You have no hope of getting Falcao and when Suarez leaves he'll go to Madrid.
I didn't mean 'serious' as in I'm disagreeing that we're after Suarez... I meant why are you writing a 'serious' reply to my message when it was clearly a nonsensical reply to the equally stupid comment about Koscielny?
Still... the fact we didn't sign Suarez means he's completely rubbish. NB. If we sign him in January, he will, of course, become world class instantaneously
I wonder how you Gooners will react when we dives in the box to win a penalty for us in the 90th minute at the Emirates. Whistle is blown .. 1-0 win for the Pool away at the Emirates with Suarez grabbing the winning goal with a controversial penalty.
Probably not as bad as you'll feel when we sign him in January and he scores against you lot in the second half of the season
