ALFRED NâDIAYE plans to wait until next summer to decide his future after being taken aback by Sunderlandâs decision to allow him to leave. NâDiaye moved to Turkish side Eskisehirspor on a season-long loan in July, just six months after arriving at the Stadium of Light in a £3.8million deal from Bursaspor. The Football Echo understands that NâDiaye was given little explanation for Sunderlandâs decision to offload him after what had seemed a promising start to his Black Cats career. The 23-year-old is now keeping his options open over his long-term future after making his Eskisehirspor debut last weekend. Although there is a clause in the loan deal to convert it into a permanent move â as is the case with all overseas loans â NâDiaye isnât necessarily accepting that his long-term future lies in Turkey. NâDiaye will see what the season brings for him before deciding on the best move next summer. A source close to NâDiaye said: âIt was a surprise when Alfred was told that he wasnât part of Paolo Di Canioâs plans at Sunderland. He was enjoying himself there and the fans seemed to like him. âBut he knew the coach at Eskiehirspor from his time at Bursaspor, so it was a good move for him. It doesnât mean he will stay there next summer. âHe will see how he progresses over the season and then make a decision.â NâDiaye had started 15 out of 17 Premier League games since being brought to the Stadium of Light by Martin OâNeill and seemed to have adapted well to English football by the end of the campaign. But Di Canio opted to part company with NâDiaye and has added to his central midfield options with the summer captures of El-Hadji Ba, Cabral and Ki Sung-Yueng. NâDiaye has denied that he had a bust-up with Di Canio though and claimed last month that he returned to Turkey to play regular first-team football. âThere was no problem with the coach,â said NâDiaye. âWe talked about my expectations because I need playing time. Iâm at an age where I need to play, so it was agreed to my loan and I chose Turkey. âAfter the half-season I spent at Sunderland, starting on the bench was not what I wanted. âI am only 23, but you must play every week to progress. I could have stayed at Sunderland, but I preferred the loan.â
Given that we have opted to start this season with Larsson, Gardner and Vaughan, it makes the loan deal for Alfie even more of a puzzle. Surely we'd have been better to keep him and let go at least 1 maybe 2 of the others? I can't see him returning with any kind of desire but then it worked for Wellbeck and Rose I guess do who knows?
Absolute rank bad management too let him go whilst keeping Seb, Gards & vaughan ahead of him. Not saying alfie was the finished article but he was the physical presence we needed in midfield. When he went so quickly I assumed there had been a falling out. Reading this it appears not. Don't think he will ever play in a SAFC shirt again tho.
No quotes from Alfie himself aside from the ones we've seen already where he says he could have stayed but chose to leave because he wanted guaranteed first team football.
In reality we know NOTHING about the situation it's only guess work until we see N'Dayie or Di Canio explain it themselves. Alfie was very powerful and was looking quite good imo. I would have kept him as I really like him but his passes that were directed more than 15 yards from him were not accurate and his shooting was also poor, he should have had about 5 goals for us before the end of the season His technical side is the reason Di Canio would have not been able to guarantee him first team football in my opinion.
he has represented france at u17 u18 u19 u20 & u21 but could play for senegal, can you play for another country if you have already played for france at those levels?? just a thought
deffo can mate, he was on the bench for senegal the other night http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/prelim...index.html?intcmp=livecoverage_header_fwcq_en top of the group look like qualifying for the tournament. i'd bet my bottom dollar it has everything to do with this ^
Eh? Limbo? More inconsistent contradictory journalism if you ask me. The reasons are clear by quote. We want players who want to improve and fight for a place. Alfie didn't want to improve. He wanted an easy life where he's on the teamsheet without having to fight. Not the sort of player Paolo wants at the club. **** him. His lack of drive let himself and us down.
Bloody hell bri, wouldnt go that far like, if you needed first team football to be in with a chance of playing at the world cup and your parent club couldnt guarantee it but agreed to a loan deal, what would you do?
Apparently he was on hefty (ish) wages. A loan move to Turkey where they pay all his wages and he plays all the games is only good for us for next year.
Aye he was another on £35k apparently, say he has a stormer at the world cup, who knows what we have agreed as a sell on, could be £10m for all we know
More tittle tattle in the media which people read into way too much and start drawing conclusions from, its a shame when they use it to question the manager with, especially when its the manager of our team. How many games has he been in charge for, must just be in to double figures. And tell me, when have managers ever explained decisions like loaning players to the fans, surely the action of loaning the player speaks louder than words........do we need any further explanation, if so consider.... It was either they did not fancy him or we were paying him a large salary, probably the latter I would guess. So N'Daiye was on international duty warming the bench..............................Seb was playing and had an assist. Giacherrini played too.
