You beat me to it, was going to post the same article. Good read, laughed about the Hinchliffe 5 year plan...

Yes a very good read. Funnily enough I had an argument with some numpty on 606 (RIP) about the origins of the reference "fer ark" explaining how it was down tithe poor maintenance of the illuminated letters above the ticket office on boothferry road often only having fer and ark illuminated. To which I got a torrent of abuse off of said numpty saying I was a lieing idiot who probably wasn't even a hull fan ! WTF !

what happend to the floodlights?
i always thought they would be a good addition to the city center.maybe queens gardens [wherei lost me cherry:emoticon-0104-surpr] or vici square.
now that would be a landmark no one could ignore!!!

AS much as I was fond of spotting the six free standing floodlights on my way back into the city from the west I wouldnt go as far as saying it would be a good idea to preserve them by playing the six 100+ ft rust pylons in the town centre were the few people visiting from out of town or even tourist would just look and say WTF !!!

They had to get rid of them with kids etc climbing them, there was an accident waiting to happen. Couldn't see it being popular, would be rather out of touch with the surroundings and then there the issue again of kids and also piss heads climbing them.

Makes me laugh reading that Darlington fans were taking the piss out of us! <laugh>

I'll be honest though, it makes me a little sad too. I miss those days. :(
