Yeah it gives us a fantastic mix of midfield players and styles, but also fantastic attacking options, with several of our midfield players able to cover out wide.

Rofl. When Arsenal spend over 40m and sign Ozil and Utd only just about manage to scrape a deal for Fellaini for almost 30m you know something has gone down at Utd. They are missing Fergie already!

Like i said i'm not remotely religious - but the dude all the stories are about existed. Two thousand years later his 'miracles' may have been blown out of proportion (e.g. it wouldn't be overly ridiculous to suggest he could of walked in the dead sea due to the high levels of salt for example) but he did exist.

If any of you lot remember me bleating on about Cazorla being an amazing signing last year, giving some insight to those that hadn't seen him play. Just to put this move into a bit of perspective - Ozil is better than Cazorla.

And it's mad to think that when the first reports came out about the Benzema, Di Maria and Ozil that we were all looking at them thinking that Ozil is the most unlikely of the lot and kind of disregarding him. Only thing I'm disappointed about is that we don't get to see him play for 2 weeks.
Agreed. Best midfielder in the league. Only player close is a fit and on form Yaya.
Delighted with Ozil! Dissapointed with the the window overall. Don't think this makes us title contenders (unless we don't get another injury till the end of the season - then maybe) but it is a step in the right direction. Feel we need a CB, a DM (maybe not depending on how flamini plays) and a ST. We could deffo have done more this window and bar Ozil it could have been done a lot sooner. Hopefully signing a player like him means we can attract similar or better in future windows. I said it would take a few years to make us title contenders again and as long as I saw forward momentum I am happy with Wenger. Transfer wise this is a forward movement , now hopefully it inspires us on the pitch as well.

Ozil is unexpected as I thought we'd go for a more direct winger type for that position.
For me this it's still very underwhelming for a real title challenge as we haven't improved in the areas we most needed to, and our options in most positions are still very limited. We will still struggle in similar games to last season, unless Flamini has the season of his life.

So, it seems our striker pecking order is something like this: Giroud - Bendtner - Walcott - Sanogo.
Obviously would have preferred another top striker brought in but it could be a lot worse. Walcott did well up front last year and when Poldi's fit again this position will strengthen.
I think that Wenger sees more goals coming from midfield and the wings if (GOD FORBID) Giroud became unavailable for a few games or so.

I can't really understand the Man Utd comments. They actually, unlike us, are a squad full of champions/winners who got reinforced in the area they most needed, with a player they were linked to from day 1. Ozil seemingly got into our plans way into the transfer window, and in an area that was already one of the most well-covered in our squad.
I don't see how that makes them disorganized compared to us. Ozil might turn out an excellent signing, but we are left with a thin squad (both in numbers and quality) in much of the rest of the field.

We will have the most creative and attacking midfield in the league but Chelsea, Man City and Spurs have the more powerful midfields. Bayern Munich and Barcelona have the best midfields in the world.
I have to disagree with you.If Man Utd really wanted Fellaini from day one why didn't they just pay his release clause rather than pay more for him on the last day of the window ? Why did they make three attempts to buy Fabregas if they really wanted Fellaini ?
You say that but Ozil plays the AM role for Germany ahead of Kroos or Schweinsteiger.(both starters for Bayern)
I think our midfield is a match for anyones even Bayern. Not as physically powerful as some but we have a great mixture pace and technical ability.
Which leads me to believe that they made a mistake in the transfer window. They should have gone after Ozil as soon as he was available as they were clearly going after a top creative midfielder. But that's their problem and now we have a World Class player on our hands!
