Not sure we need DiMaria to be honest, what with Ãzil coming and all. I said at the beginning i'd prefer a combo of DiMaria and cabaye rather than just Ãzil (don't get me wrong, the stains on my keyboard are testament to my excitement) and now that we have (touch wood) Ãzil, If we went out and spent the money on a back up (never saw the need for a world class) striker (heard a lot of good things about yilmaz) a cm in the arteta/cabaye/lynchpin mould, and a fb/cb, it would be a dream summer for me. Although I have to admit, I was kind of looking forward to getting fm2014 to show Wenger how it's done....
While I think Ozil is an amazing player, we are still short a few players to even hope to challenge for the title. One player is not going to change that (maybe bar messi/Ronaldo). But this is a great statement and sign of things moving forward. If Ozil and The GK are our only signings then Top 4 and a cup is our best bet. If we get St(Ba), a CB (unlikely) a WF (Di Maria/Draxler) - basically 5 players min need to sign today for us to have close to a squad to challenge. But a step in the right direction? Absolutely!
I think Viviano, Flamini and Ozil are all great additions to our squad. Happy with all 3 of those signings. And Sanogo is one for the future. I'm also really pleased that we have gutted the squad of all the deadwood so that we can use our money on good players! We still need 1 or 2 more players for it to be the perfect window!
Not particularly impressed, and for a youtube video supposedly showing his best saves, this has me quite worried. The guy seems to parry every shot into the path of oncoming strikers. Complete inability to catch the ball. Though that's based on this 2:39 minute video lol.
We're taking so long on this Ozil deal, that we'll end up not having time to do anything else. Typical us.
Twitter is funny on transfer deadline day. I've seen rumours for Mascherano, Cardozo and Di Natale lol
So if we get the three players we are linked with our first team squad would look like this GK's Wojciech Szczesny Lukasz Fabianski Emiliano Viviano (That's fine, and I am pretty happy with that) Defence: Carl Jenkinson Bacary Sagna Thomas Vermaelen Laurent Koscielny Per Mertesacker Kieren Gibbs Nacho Monreal (Still feel we are one player light in this area. I think the demands on Sagna are too much and if he potentially gets injured we are in trouble.) Midfield: Mikel Arteta Jack Wilshere Aaron Ramsey Mathieu Flamini Mesut Ozil Santi Cazorla Thomas Rosicky (As it stands, we are not going to get the expensive DM we were after, but I was impressed by Flamini's performance against Spurs, and Arteta can hopefully recover from his injury and do what he did last season, because he still a class act. So the trio of Flamini,Arteta and Ramsey have to be the guys that shield our defence. Going forward, we have no problems. The potential link up play between Cazorla and Ozil is mouth watering.) Forwards Olivier Giroud Theo Walcott Lukas Podolski Alex Oxlade Chamberlain Yaya Sanogo Demba Ba (Problem here is that the Ox and Podolski are going to be out for a while, so does leave us a bit light. With Cazorla and Rosicky able to play in one of those wide roles, we can adjust. The big disappointment is that we failed to get the world class forward that we wanted, but Giroud has stepped up this season, and with potential arrival of Ozil, he is going to get the chances that he did not get last season. Ba would be a solid addition and provides competition for Giroud).
Have you seen the gooners tweeting to RVP, asking/mocking him who he'd rather be playing with, Cleverly or Ozil.
