Just to put it all in perspective, Man City and Spurs have spent big, but they have also lost key players going out. Take Spurs: OUT: Bale £85m, Caulker £10m, Hudllestone £5m, Livermore £2m; IN: Soldado, Lamela, Paulinho, Eriksen, and Chiriches for a total outlay of £95m. That's £102m out and £95m in. City by comparison have lost, OUT: Holt £1.5m, Vaughan £1m and Jackson and 8 others let go whilst, IN: RvW £8.6m, Hooper £5.5m, Fer £4.5m, Olsson £2.5m, Redmond £2m, Garrido £1.5m and Elmander on loan. That's around £2.5m out and around £25m in. The pundits say Spurs have done better, but have they when you consider the losses as well? http://metro.co.uk/2013/09/02/trans...ubs-who-have-done-the-best-business-3942696/?
Cove, I would love to see Siem De Jong sign for us. Really think he would be the answer for us in AMC
Excellent article RER and very well written. Yes Grant Holt will live long in the memories of Canaries fans (especially his hat trick against 1p5wich), but in JE and the 'new' Ghr, he has definitely improved the team, without 'splashing the cash'.
"A full two hours before he's unveiled, Real Madrid fans have already formed a 500 yard-long queue for free tickets to get a glimpse of Gareth Bale following his world record transfer from Tottenham." Gareth Bale ticket please log in to view this image
Well he will cost you though, I expect somewhere between 10-14 million pounds as he is on a 2y contract.
I am finally back from my holidays and looking forward to an exciting close to the window. I am hoping we bring in a wide player on loan and maybe a CB but if no one is available then I am happy with we have. The club has completed some excellent deals this summer.
i'm not convinced we'll see much, if any, incoming action at carrow road today but there will probably be a couple of outs, possibly on loan
I just realised that Robbie, and ha ve corrected it. The money is still the same though! I know RvW was last season's budget, but he's still a new player this year.
I would also love to see de Jong, but can't see it happening. What about De Vrij at CB? (Excellent report Cove!).
De Vrij dropped in value in the past couple of weeks, had a very bad streak at Feyenoord in August. Alongside with Martins Indi responsible for bad results. Media told him to be more ruthless, he got carried away by the pressure and got a red card in the game after making two stupid fouls. Me personally I got my doubts about him. Mentally and physically not strong enough for the PL or Bundesliga. Needs to man up because he is overhyped and doesn't deserve to be team captain nor make it to the National team.
