Haha. Old legend. Goes something like this.

Virgin sailor on first voyage is shown around the ship by old hand. Tells youngster all sorts of stats, finishing with how many thousand rivets were used to construct ship. He then mentions that there is a tradition that the last rivet used is made of solid gold, and placed in the shower area. Doubting newbie is introduced to said shower room & is invited to bend over & scratch paint off specific rivet to prove the story. Without going in to too much more detail, new sailor emerges from the showers having lost his virginity in more ways than one!

That sound about right, Grogger?

Cheers Jock<ok>

just heard MillwallSteve and a few other Wallies are going to sign up for the navy tomorrow.......

Dunno why!!!;)

I was in the RAF reg for a very short time. Did my basic at Swinderby in 83, then off to Catterick. Left after 3 months, biggest regret of my life...:(

****ing Matelot....what happened failed the entrance exam to the Army :cheesy: anyway good to have you on the forum unless your a submariner...in which case your perversions are not welcome here :emoticon-0172-mooni

The entrance exam for joining the Army is as simple as falling off a log, in fact that's what it is. Those who are unsuccessful in this extreme aptitude test fall into a special category known as suitable for officer training.

I may well have passed you out of both Swinderby and the Regiment Depot Catterick as I was in the Band of the RAF Regiment at that time. Sadly RAF Catterick, that oasis of blue in a sea of brown, is now the home 5 Regt of cloud punchers, long range snipers and drop shorts commonly known as the Royal Artillery and is now known as Marne Baracks.

I heard that alright. Swinderby has gone. Had a great time...but it didn't work out for me. But I'll always have a lot of respect for the military, hated the MPs though..<grr>

Everyone hates MPs. I was driving home from the pub one night into barracks (was well under the limit had a couple of sips of a pint) MPs stop me, breathalized ect comes back well under....end of the story? **** no. Decided to pay my CO a visit, luckily he didn't give a toss but ffs talk about ****ing with a man's career just because you didn't get another for the drink driving stats.
