I wasn't overly impressed with him in those 3 early games. If you count them as good games and the recent 2 that's still a handful. Of them I would only say the sunderland game was a very impressive 90 minute performance, the west brom game he was decent, take away the set pieces and he wasn't good enough

I would have him in ahead of Gaston and Adam on form like most people however I would challenge anyone to state that he is a better player than them. In terms of ability I would have him at 6th choice for front 4 and 4th choice for holding mid.

I haven't said he is better than those two. I agree with you. He is however an extremely talented player and I think you are undervaluing the importance of having his type of player in the team. I have believed for a long long time that English fans never properly value a player who keeps things simple with a short pass. I'll have to throw out my Nobby Stiles line in a minute. Football is a game about combinations all over the pitch for 90 minutes; it is not about playing the best or most talented players.

No, the discussion might have come on the back of a discussion around Victor Moses but it has clearly been about JWP primarily and there is a thread for him already. Speculating on vague rumours is exactly what this thread is for... to stop a new thread popping up for every little rumour that appears in the media. How do you think we would have got to the 5th iteration of the thread with 3 signings otherwise? :confused:
 
Ba of Porto and Moses atm. Ba is in a few more papers today.
 
Ba is an interesting one, playing a game of Football Manager at the moment and he has ended up being a top european CB after 3 seasons or so, Porto's stat man obviously feels he is a player of some potential. He is a 6"6 CB, 22 with 60 league appearances to his name. Only 6 of those have come with Porto's first team but he has also managed 4 appearances for the Senegal national team as well. I don't see much point in signing him on loan (DM reporting...) for that reason though, I don't think he would go straight into the first team (ahead of Jos maybe?) but in a few years he certainly could be. The fee being mentioned seems to be in 6 figures though, pretty impressive for an international.... I'd say his market value is more around £2M. I think he is worth a punt.

I also noticed he was linked with Stoke earlier on in the window so they could come back in for him as well as Villa.
