I thought Middlesborough wanted McCormack from Leeds, and their interest in Becchio was only if that fell through. I can't say I'll miss Becchio if he does go, he was poor last night, and is never going to be more than our 4th choice striker.
In other news(via Twitter), Toivonen has told PSV he will look for a new club this week. Has CH lost interest?, I don't think Toivonen has too many suitors.
Cove tweeted that psv lowered their demands for toivonen and that if he doesn't sign extension he will be playing with the reserves. Maybe if hughton still interested we could bag ourselves a bargain
I guess if Becchio does go then Toivonen would be the choice to replace him, as we'd be back down to 3 strikers. That's if he could stomach coming to little old Norwich...
Just seen this on twitter, I've posted it here because it's two of our Summer signings! please log in to view this image
On last nights showing Bennett came in and did great at cb but got injured and was able to help out for hurts second I think it was as a result. Bassong took two pretty big knocks and as a result didn't look fully mobile when they knocked the third one in(great goal) We need a cb in my opinion, if toivonnen was available I'd take him at the tight price no worries at all not into the "he snubbed us! He's worse than satan in an Ipswich shirt" noise. Good player, our squad would then resemble some sort of crazy futuristic british/Dutch/Swedish hybrid
I see Toby is also still without a new deal.... just wonder as the window starts to close whether we can get back in and get both of them? that would be a massive coup, and doesnt look like there are many other takers for either of them....
difficult to say with regards toivonen but i still reckon alderweireld is looked at as second or third choice option for a few of the big clubs around europe, maybe waiting to see if they get first or second choices before making their move. i personally think we've missed out on both but they were both pretty audacious attempts.
I saw Arsenal were linked with Alderweireld more recently. Unfortunately, I think that ship has sailed. Given that Toivonen specifically said that he hadn't ruled us out, I think there is still a possibility, but a very small one.
So 'best case' scenario in the remaining few days is Ayala and Fox out, Alderweireld and Toivonen in, and Troisi (or similar) on a 6-month loan to cover Bennett until the end of January? I think it's more likely we just see Troisi now though. Or has Ayala actually gone already?
is it wishful thinking that Olsson and Elmander could pursuade Toivonen to join? we don't have any belgians for Toby, Fer and Ricky are dutch, that's close enough
I just looked through a lot of Sweden's most recent line-ups, Toivonen hasn't featured in the same side as Elmander and Olsson in the years worth of games I went through, so perhaps we're hoping for a connection that isn't even there.
Apparently he has indicated in an interview he will be leaving this week, so it's not just hearsay on twitter, translated page: http://www.microsofttranslator.com/.../toivonen-mag-voor-lager-bedrag-weg-1.3977299
My impression is that Toivonen and Elmander are regarded by Sweden as alternatives, one or other playing up front with Ibrahimovic. What one can say, though, is that the presence of two other members of the Swedish squad might give him a reason to reconsider, especially if they sell the club to him as RvW did to Fer.
Re. Alderweireld, Toure was stretchered off at Anfield last night. I don't know how serious his injury was, but if he is sidelined then Liverpool are likely to be back in for Toby A.
Do you think Toivonen is likely to wait out his contract? or look for a club?, we stand a tiny chance?
