Still think promoting the Murphy boys would be a better idear.

That's a a good call actually. Not like they'd be thrown in at the deep end either. Assuming Pilks, Snodgrass, Redmond and Olsson don't all get injured at the same time, they're unlikely to get a huge amount of game time. Give them a chance to dip their toes in gradually.

    Given Troisi the transfermarkt treatment:

Valued at £1.1m, predominately plays as a left winger, but can play centrally or on the right. Bulk of his career spent in the superlig, where he scored 16 and made 8 in 94 games (64 starts). Scoring rate of just shy of 1 in 4 in terms of minutes played.

The Fail aren't the only place to pick up on him, Aussie papers report that he's been allowed to come to England to try and find a loan for himself.

At 25, his move to Italy clearly hasn't worked as he wanted, so he's presumably looking to reignite his career. I'm not really in favour of a move really. Either he does well here and Atalanta/Juventus (co-owners) take him back (after hindering Redmond+ the Murphy's development), or he flops and is a waste of a squad spot. If we want another midfield, I'd rather it was someone who can really pass the ball, and help to create things. I've been convinced by others we have the wide cover in place.

I agree, we someone proven, I think that record shows he's not. We need Ola Toivonen!, but I can't see that happening. :(

Given that CH knows the player and I don't, I'm willing to go with him if he does sign Troisi as cover for Benno. It's a one-year loan for a flexible player (he can play on either wing as well as ACM). Talented though they are, I don't see the Murphy twins or any others from the development squad being able to fill this need yet. Their time will come, but it isn't now. I also don't see that this rules out signing another ACM to take Fox's squad place.

Hmmm, Troisi, the centre back cover that Hughton mentioned, and a new midfielder is quite a lot of business with a week to go. Would certainly like to see it, but 3 signings and Fox leaving might be too much to ask for.

I didn't say that another ACM would happen, DH, merely that it could. I still think the CB may happen, but another ACM is now a much longer shot, especially if Troisi comes in. If Fox was to feature in CH's plans, he'd be in the squad tonight rather than in the Development squad yesterday.

Why shouldn't the Murphys and others get in the squad. If you're good enough, you're old enough.

Personally I think they have a bit more learning to do. They are more raw versions of Redmond IMO, the decision making isn't there, enough, for me yet! Although I would love to see them blooded in a bit this season, as they will improve by playing.

He clearly has bags and bags of skill and trickery, but I'd say that Redmond's decision making leaves a hell of a lot to be desired

For me, with Bennett being injured, we should get another winger in even if its just on loan. I know its only been two games but I don't think Redmond is quite ready to start yet so I'd like to see someone come in as a stopgap to compensate for the injuries to both Pilks and Benno.

I wasn't saying that Redmond was the finished article Munky, merely that he has better decision making than the Murphy's due to his experience. I agree he still has work to do in this area, bags of potential though, as have the Murphy's.

CH could bring on the Murphy's as subs, but I think we need regular experienced players in the team. It's going to be a tough season!, we will probably end up with a loanee of some sort.

Given that both Murphys played yesterday, I doubt we'll see them tonight.

i have been against bringing in another wide man but when you consider how injury-prone pilks is and the fact snoddy hasn't had a full pre-season and redmond is just 19, well, it shows that despite having some great wide options, we could end up very short on numbers at some point this season! i'd rather the murphy's get a place on the bench, but the problem comes if we lose three of the four, which is very possible, and from what i've seen neither twin is ready for starting premier league games. they'd be better off down in league one playing 15-20 games on loan, maybe after christmas. i know absolutely nothing about the aussie guy we are supposedly looking at on trial though! <ok>

Hoping the murphy's get a loan move when the loan window opens in a bit, shame whilst they're here it seems we aren't going to utilise them in the cup. I personally think the crowd would respond to them well could be a great morale boost to see them getting a go.

Only worry is that we aren't seen as trendy enough to loan out some of our better players, I personally thought george francomb was better than league 2 last year, in fact i'm surprised he took the permanent contract over the league 1 teams who offered him one, perhaps he really enjoyed it.

Any league one team with a half decent scouting network would be willing to take a punt. They're reasonably well know in those circles. In fact they were in a BBC article recently.

Hughton confirmed in his press conference that Troisi is someone being looked at, and that there's a strong possibility of a winger coming in to cover Bennett's absence. He also came out with something which sounded like "we know many names", which has to be the daftest way of phrasing your transfer dealings I've heard in a while.

Ben Foster ruled out until December apparently. I wonder if West Brom will be happy with Boaz Myhill as their 'keeper for that length of time, or whether they'll look to loan someone in. Big blow for them.
