Not a wum comment but do you think Levy may make part of the deal in the Bale sale for Real Madrid not to sell players to our rivals? I'm not saying he would have that power but selling Bale to them would weaken us and potentially massively strengthen you.

I don't think you have that kind of jurisdication... in any case Real will sell the players because they need to recoup their losses. Just sayin' <ok>

You are probably right and obviously we need the money from Real Madrid so it could be a case of cutting our nose of to spite our face if we started to put in caveats to who Madrid can and can't sell to. It would be fairly **** if Bale went and you picked up Benzema and Di Maria though!

I think this is the twist that Levy hadn't anticipated. In his clamour to hawk out Bale for the biggest transfer fee ever, he seems not to have factored in that Real would have to sell players to fund it. Less so it seems did he figure that some of those players might be sold to Arsenal. If Bale does go to Madrid and it allows us to sign one or more of Benzema, Di Maria or Ozil, then it's going to be a massive win win for Arsenal. <ok>

But he can certainly hold things up for us by not finalising the deal so that others are sold.

It doesn't really benefit anybody to hold up the deal. Levy might be a spiv, but he knows he needs that money to cover the vast sums that he's spent this summer. If he pushes it too far and Real tell him to **** off, then he's going to have a hugely pissed of Bale on his hands and a big hole in his bank balance.

I mentioned that earlier, it could be a problem but if Real feel that the deal is taking too long they may start to have second thoughts. I suspect that the Bale money has already been spent by Tottenham this season. So they desperately need to get rid of Bale or else they are in deep financial trouble.

They may finalise the deal right before the deadline, so we will simply do not have enough time to do our business.

Came out in a cold sweat this morning, reporting on SSN that if we are unsuccessful with Cabaye, then the Barry deal could be resumed :emoticon-0149-no:

On a serious note, would anyone here be happy if we got Barry? The general consensus would be Cabaye would be a waste of money.

Sadly he would be a numbers signing as opposed to the quality signing we have been promised, imho.

I think we all know that but we all remain in hope. Wenger is pretty much happy with his squad but only wants a few in to cover injuries to his first team. I want this window closed asap now so we can talk about football and not endless rumours that never materialise. Hopefully they change the stupid window so it ends a week before the start of a new season, it just ruins it for everyone, especially the clubs that have a battle to keep their players and to get replacements in!

I was on Dinas Dinlle beach on Saturday and saw 3 characters that were 70s throwbacks. Made sure I stayed away from their clutches. Sorry to report your plans were unsuccessful....<whistle>

I can't see how he would fit in and where he would play. We play at a high technical level of football on the ground so not sure he could keep up. Only a few English players could fit our system like Rooney, but that isn't possible.

They weren't saying hi to you they were saying "**** off you English ****" in Welsh <laugh>
I was watching BBC Wales Today yesterday evening and they were reporting on the Bale to Madrid story. They first interviewed a Welsh ex-pat about living in Madrid, they then spoke to a Spanish woman whose partner/husband was from Bontnewydd near Caernarfon. It was hysterical listening to her speak English with a hybrid Spanish/Cofi accent <laugh>
