What you are forgetting is that JWP is only 18...he has just started to pick up the pace...how good will he be in his twenties if he maintains progress. Lallana is older, but he has to work hard to maintain his standard in the PL. Perhaps his talent enabled him to coast a bit in the lower leagues...sure he has more to give. Will have a good coach in Mauricio.
Has the potential to be as good as 'Paul Scholes' Don't forget he is playing with 12-15 million pound player around him now!
One of the good things about JWP is that he gives us dead-ball options from set pieces. We missed them last year.
Whoscored stats say JWP had five key balls, compared to Lallana's one. I know these stats are often dubious, but I can believe it, because I thought Lallana was crap.
Think he will play tomorrow or be rested? I want him to have as much game time as possible but 2 days rest is not enough.
Let us try and put a spot to this Cityism, Regionalism and Racism on this site. It just ain't Saintly.
and of course the next Saints player to be a superb penalty taker. PS On reflection I suppose you could argue that a penalty is a direct free kick.
My credentials are impeccable in that a relative of mine was an Alderman of Southampton and a fourth cousin was Mayor and I'm not even Southampton born.
No. She likes men with a full beard and moustache (thank goodness) not those who have forgotten to shave for a couple of days.
For all of Saints signings, their biggest gain could be JWP's transition into the first team. He has fantastic delivery and composure. Quite remarkable in this day and age.
Nicola said that Saints are aware of their duty to provide players for the national squad...a little smug, but I loved it as it was a hidden dig at other PL sides. I think Nicola has a second dream of seeing England play with several players from our Academy or at least trained in the Southampton way. He may be a megalomaniac but he's our megalomaniac.
