i always want the english teams to do well in europe so obviously i'm pleased they look like they will progress from what looked on paper, a tough tie. however, in reality, fenerbahce were absolutely abysmal and i doubt arsenal could have had a more comfortable game in the end. impressed with ramsey though. gets a lot of stick but played really well although i assume as he scored, someone famous will pop their cloggs later today??? one arsenal fan i know reckons all that result will mean is that wenger thinks he needs no new players he's never happy though!
One of my work colleagues is the same, he actually wanted arsenal to lose last night so that Wenger and co got the message. I see his point of view, now they have won a CL match Wenger might well be less stressed to bring in some talent.
People haven't allowed for Ramsey being set back so badly by that broken leg. It looks as if he's finally put it behind him, and we are seeing why Wenger rates him so highly. Still raw, as is Wiltshire.
That "point of view" is worthy of a Canary Caller, or the Arsenal equivalent. Some fans' beliefs about the way their club is run are absolutely ludicrous. Even more ludicrous is the media taking the same line.
just seen elliott bennett is out for 'months' with a knee injury. sounds very serious. disappointing for the lad. i thought he did ok on saturday. leaves us a bit short in wide areas now
I don't think the Arsenal situation is as bad as people are making out though, they lose one game at the start of the season and it's panic stations. Sure they do need to buy talent but it's not like Wenger is a newly appointed manager and has never been in charge of a premier league club. I think he will make some decent last minute signings.
e bennett out is unfortunate, as said above he has been playing well hopefully Pilks and Snod will be back very soon. Redmond will be getting more game time
Hughton: 'No Gary Hooper yet unfortunately. But Snodgrass and Bassong have trained and are in contention.' https://twitter.com/NorwichCityFC So we might see Snod against Hull, hope so.
you're right, but its the fact that they seem to find themselves in exactly the same situation this time every season that is making the headlines. it's like they never learn from their mistakes
Anyone know how he picked that up? If needed, Whittaker could play RMid in front of Martin, mirroring Olsson & Garrido on the left. But EB is a useful guy generally so I agree it is a blow.
Mistakes? That's how everyone commenting on it sees it. May not be how Wenger and Arsenal see it at all. This time round is rather different from the previous two years in that no important player has left at the last moment. All the key players have stayed.
27 players have left, some of whom were starting matches last season. they may not have been good players but they have been replaced with one french teenager! unlike what you think, there is no witch hunt - arsenal are being highlighted because they have not learnt from past seasons, they have not gone out there and secured good players, they have been a bit childish in their approaches for a couple of players, and its honestly quite funny that their manager and seemingly some fans are so stubborn as to not see it! all this whilst all around have significantly strengthened their sides. its like groundhog day every summer!
Afternoon all, gutted about Bennett I think he is seriously underestimated by many. I see that Hooper is still not in contention, must be one helluva bruise on his shin ! Ain't it bloody marvellous, the season has only just kicked off and we're already getting injuries to key players. Just goes to show that you really do need a seriously strong squad in this league. P.S. This has come out of the blue, Becchio to 'Boro ? ......... http://www.norwich.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=329518 also http://www.norwich.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=329529
thanks. if snod and bassong are in contention, put them in man! don't fanny about like you did with JR at the end of last season.
Actually "witch-hunt" is entirely appropriate. Witches were persecuted for being "different". Wenger and Arsenal simply don't behave like everyone else; people can't understand that.
sorry but this is total nonsense. lets face it, you don't have to look too hard to see why everyone is laughing at arsenal right now. irrespective of the quality other teams have brought in or even the fees involved, after coming out with all that guff about how they would spend their biggest ever budget this summer, they haven't exactly impressed and now they are leaving it a bit too late and are getting desperate. they can't even argue, like man united could, that they don't need to strengthen. they lack ambition and for a big club, that's quite shocking and is quite rightly a story. signings in for each team: Arsenal - Sanogo (estimated transfer outlay £0) Aston Villa - Okore, Bacuna, Tonev, Luna, Helenius, Prynn, Steer (£14m) Cardiff - Medel, Caulker, Cornelius, Brayford, Moore (£26.5m) Chelsea - Schürrle, van Ginkel, Cuevas, Schwarzer, Perica (£30m) Crystal Palace - Gayle, Campana, Dobie, Alexander, Grandin, Thomas, Phillips, Chamakh (£8.6m) Everton - Koné, Robles, Alcaraz, Deulofeu (£8m) Fulham - Stekelenburg, Riether, Amorebieta, Boateng, Plumain, Bent, Taarabt, Parker (£7m) Hull City - Huddlestone, Davies, Elmohamady, McGregor, Sagbo, Boyd, Figueroa, Harper, Devitt, Graham, Livermore (£13m) Liverpool - Aspas, Mignolet, Luis Alberto, Touré (£25m) Manchester City - Fernandinho, Jovetic, Jésus Navas, Negredo (£96m) Manchester United - Varela (£2.5m) Newcastle United - Kemen, Rémy (£0) Norwich City - van Wolfswinkel, Fer, Hooper, Olsson, Redmond, Garrido, Nash, Elmander (£23m) Southampton - Wanyama, Lovren, Osvaldo (£37m) Stoke City - Pieters, Grant, Muniesa, Agudelo (£5m) Sunderland - Altidore, Giaccherini, Mannone, Karlsson, Ba, Watmore, Cabral, Diakité, Roberge, Celustka, N'Diaye (£18m) Swansea City - Bony, Shelvey, Amat, Pozuelo, Zabret, Cañas, Gogic, Meade, de Guzman (£24m) Tottenham Hotspur - Soldado, Paulinho, Chadli, Capoue (£59m) West Bromwich Albion - Anelka, Lugano, Popov, Vydra (£0) West Ham United - Carroll, Downing, Whitehead, Adrián, Rat (£22m)
