I'm convinced that he does have that creativity, as he has played ACM quite a bit in the past, but I suspect it will be more of a hybrid ACM/second striker role. The fitness will be the key to whether this is going to be as an impact sub or starter. Clever signing by CH!
In which case he's to all intents very similar to Toivonen - apart from JE was keen to play for Norwich rather than wait for a bigger keep-net to come and land him That's the attitude we like!
If he's going to be playing in a Toivonen type role the next signing should be a CB and then we're done. What CB's are we looking at?
Looks very much like Ayala could be off - loan with a view to a perm. Cue a new loan / perm CB coming into the club? http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/daniel-ayala-boro-bid-accepted-5765925
i think we have to file ayala in the same folder as vaughan. lots of potential but injured more than barry sheene better off without him.
only worth getting in a CB if it improves what we have already, hence the alderwerald bid we have bassong, turner, R bennett and R martin at present which should do us fine, but if we can get someone better than turner/martin/bennett then great (assuming seb is our best CB)
Just seen this on the ever reliable Football Rumours website A strange and circuitous way of offloading Steve Morison if either of the above are true
Just seen this from Turkish Football.com Good job they didn't quote a price in Turkish Lira, otherwise Canary Call would explode
Legs like glass. Vaughan seems to have prospered since joining the Udders so good luck to Dani at Boro if that's where he does end up.
Apparently he is a worry for Saturday though... I suspect the nature of the Prem made it more likely than ever that he would get injured, whereas the Championship is just a slight step down and, while still injury-prone, he is able to at least complete a significant number of matches each season.
I'm good mates with a Huddersfield fan, and he reckons (and I agree) that the main reason he gets injured so much is all the running around like a madman he does - throwing himself into challenges and chasing people down. It's all very well working hard, but you need to pick your battles - Vaughan fights for absolutely everything, which on the surface is a good thing, but you do have to save yourself to an extent - especially when you're playing as a lone striker (as JV sometimes does).
As Wenger said to the journos yesterday: "You behave as if you know everything about what we are doing, when actually you know nothing". The only actual facts in the public domain are Arsenal's £40M + bid for Suarez to activate his right to talk to them, and the bid for Cabaye. Everything else is hearsay, speculation, rumour.
Not long left though Robbie, got any faith left that Wenger will come through for you?, I think they played really well last night though, what additions do you think they need? (areas of weakness)
While we are on the subject of Arsenal, how about some acknowledgement of their result last night? Such a disappointment for everyone hoping to be able to pour more scorn and ridicule on them. Ramsey in particular was terrific, as was a lot of the midfield play generally. What a pity Rosicky still has a role to play with Arsenal, because if we wanted an old head at CAM, he would be fantastic IMO.
Martin Peters will be up there and he scored in a World Cup final winning side which must get him some bonus points!
Fenland. Our posts crossed. They minimally need another striker, another CB, a more physical DM (Diaby was the intended replacement for Song but hardly manages a game) and an experienced backup in goal. And with the Ox out until November they could do with a replacement for him now.
