Because Bayern Munich have first dibs on virtually every Basel player.
he said today in an interview with fifa.com that he did in fact recieve offers from lyon-tottenham - roma but basel refused to sell him this season

he also said he prefer to be a regular starter for basel than being a sub in a bigger team esp he still 21 and he need to play regular football

He sounds like he's got his head screwed on.

Has Karahba started his season at Luzern yet? Shame we couldn't get him in, he looks like a bright prospect.

Marca are reporting that Spurs have agreed a £95m fee for Bale, which will fund most of the excellent business they've just done.

Looking that way. RM want Bale to make his debut on sunday sept 1st @ home as that game is Live on tv around the world. Bale for the players Spurs have brought in is great business imo as i just dont see Bale having the same season again.

Norwich sign ex.Bolton striker Elmander. Age concern will be his sponsor. :emoticon-0116-evilg <whistle>

So Arsene Wenger is handed an extra £25M to spend and now targets Karim Benzema & Angel Di Maria. Can't see Real Madrid letting Benzema go although Di Maria could be a possibility if they land Bale.

So far Spurs have spent £89m on Paulinho, Chadli, Soldado, Willian and Capoue. They do look like they are about to sign Lamela from Roma for another £30m though.

Including Coentrao, that's a pretty fair deal for Spurs if they are selling Bale...

They've made around £23m selling players like Caulker, Parker and Thudd as well.

Hmmm.... Bale or Paulinho/Chadli/Soldado/Willian/Capoue/Coentrao/Lamela?

Not really a transfer, but Gareth Southgate is about to be announced as the England U21 manager.

.... and how will that improve the situation ? ffs England is a no hoper now on the International stage.

Once Gerrard and Lampard have announced their international retirements after Rio 2014 we may as well shut up shop. The U18 are not much better either.

No, Thudd will come into the England setup and prove that he is as good as Hoddle was. ;)

And we'll win Euro 2016 across the channel with him as captain, giving a performance similar to that of Platini at Euro 84.

Daylon Claasen has failed to win a deal at Blackpool because of work permit issues. Hardly surprising, if he wasn't going to get a work permit at a PL club, he wasn't going to get one in the league below.

EDIT: Actually, they offered him a deal but he rejected it, citing WP issues as a reason.

Shaw, Clyne, Rodriguez, Lallana, Ward-Prowse...

Throw in Lambert for a bit of experience and depth and we're sorted!

From what I've seen of him, I think Shaw will be England's first choice left back in the near future. He looks a cracking player.

WBA confirm the signing of Man City winger Scott Sinclair on a season long loan deal.

Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino says that the arrival of striker Pablo Osvaldo will not affect the future of Ricky Lambert who remains in his plans. Hhhmmm.....
