I know our strikers have been about as much use as a paper towl this season but thank god we got rid of this Clown Darren Bent. I don't care what people say about him scoring all his goals and don't get me wrong his goal scoring record at club level is excellent in terms of stats but he is by far one of the worst footballers around. The guy has no ability, slow as a snail and no movement. If you actually look at the facts and they are the guy performs well in relegation threatened teams or Midtable teams. If you actually look at the teams he has played for and none of them have actually done that well with him in the team including us. Even though we struggled for goals last season i wouldn't take Darren Bent back even if it was on a FREE!!! COYS!!!

Exactly, the amount of times balls get put through to him and the sluggish movement of Bent ends up with the ball going back to the keeper most the time because of his lack of pace. Darren bent will score goals no doubt but as a footballer he is awful and i'm sure most my fellow spurs fans would agree with me. Stick Darren Bent in a barcelona team and he would be like a little lost puppy because their ability would be far to good for him. Stick him in an average midtable side he flourishes and bangs in the goals.....
Yep, agree. Can anyone also explain to me, what the hell is wrong with Walcott's brain. Loads of times he got into positions, and just made bad decisions, and his crosses weren't anything special at all today

A player can be limited and still be effective, if a system is chosen that suits him.
With such limited options up front, why didn't Capello go with the front 3 that has worked for Villa recently?
Why didn't he pick a midfield three with a bit of thought behind it, rather than the 3 best players that he felt he had available, squished in?
Bent was crap, but at least he actually turned up.

I would agree with Spurs tatoo. If that's the best England have got, then God help us when we play a proper team. Fat Frankie looks well past the sell by. Anyone still want to pay £10mm for Parker??
I could understand picking a 'limited' player because he fits into the system you are useing but not fitting a system around a limited player, that makes no sense.
If Bent is the only striker we can find to play for England then I expect the national team to go the way of Scotland.
England has nearly always had somebody who can score goals Spurf,ie Owen when he first burst onto the scene,Shearer and Linneker to name three. There will always be someone coming through the ranks so we won't ever go the way of Scotland. I do agree though that atm if Bent is the best around that we have temporary problems.
I admire your confidence, but there was a time when Scotland produced most of the flair players in Britain. The great Liverpool team of the 70's the Man U team of Busbys time Revies great Leeds team and of course Bill Nichs great Spurs team all had Scottish players at the core. Look at them now.
The future of Englands team does not look too great to me.
If Harry takes the England job it will be a sad way to end his career in management. He should know better.

Spurf,back in the mid nineties I said the same to two Chelsea supporters who owned the local cafe about Spurs not having much of a future and now look. So I'm not too gloomy about England's future. I too read that about Crouchie and it's totally his choice. Hopefully now he' will concentrate on banging them in for us.
The difference is, Spurs can buy players with the whole world to choose from. The number of top English players is declining year by year atm.

Bent's the most in-form striker in England, Crouch is totally out of sorts, Zamora's just coming back from his long-term injury, Rooney went to get his hair done, Carroll's a bit crocked and Agbonlahor's behind Bent in the pecking order at Villa.
Sturridge might have been a good option, but he's totally inexperienced at this level.
Bent looked crap and I'm far from a fan of his, but Capello really didn't set the team up to get the best out of what he had available.
I think that he should've gone with Bent, Young and Downing as a front 3, Wilshere in an attacking midfield role behind them, with Parker and either Carrick or Barry in deeper roles.
The full-backs would've provided extra width, the defence would've been well protected and the team would've had a decent array of attacking options, with Walcott's pace and ability to run with the ball available from the bench late on.
My first thought when I saw the line-up was, "Who's playing where in the middle?", and it looked like the players had the same problem.
