Why not give Sturridge a shot? Could he be any worse? Probably not in a Euro qualifier, but I think he should definitely be given a run out in the next friendly.
Maybe it's time to look outside the premier big boys. Look for some English players who are hungry and have desire to play for England, instead of just taking it for granted that their place is safe because they are being paid a shed full of dosh. I'm old enough to remember the days (and it wasn't that long ago) when it was an honour and privilege to play for your country, NOT a god given right!.......... Sorry for the rant, but it just gets on my tits when so called top class footballers have it so hard that they cant perform because they are knackered. They want to try working for a bloody living!!
I would have thought that there must be a better prospect than Bent somewhere in England. At the other end of the scale Owen has been discarded too early, especially when England have so few talented strikers. Owen & Rooney are the only two English class strikers I can think of atm. He has not had much game time atm but he has always performed for England and he wants to play.
Owen can't play 90 minutes. He's shot. Rooney, Carroll, Sturridge and possibly Welbeck and Wickham are all decent options in the future and I'd like to see Walcott tried as an out-and-out striker, too. Agbonlahor might want to leave Villa for a regular starting place at another club, if he wants to push for international selection.
Because I've watched him struggle for years and it's clear that he's not up to it any more. I'm astounded that he's been offered a new deal by Utd, to be honest. He made one league start last season and I think that says it all. Impact sub, at best.
Liverpool fan in peace here. I am a huge fan of Darren Bent. I feel he is just as good as Rooney in front of goal and has been far better than Torres this past couple of years. I do think Spurs should feel a little bit embarrassed you let him go so easily, and waisted him while you had him.
If I were you Mich, I'd spend a lot less time worrying about who Spurs may, or may not be signing, and a bit more time worrying about Nasri going to Man Utd, and Fibreglass scooting off back home.
Darren Bent, on yesterday's showing, should be walking along Blackpool beach with a straw hat on his head, and a couple of kids on his back!
I think all the players were thinking more about their holidays yesterday. Bent's a very effective striker regardless of what you think of him.
stopthepress,I don't know what you do for a brain mate but hardly any of Bent's goals came in comfortable home wins. They didn't have many comfortable home wins which is why they were down the bottom for so long. In a 4-1 home win he didn't score so stop wasting our time.
Bent's cack. He showed exactly why he's not good enough for a decent premier league club. Good for relegation battle. But not much else. As for Walcott - ROFLCopter
