We'll be getting Europe by winning the FA Cup anyway.

I think that with Pochettino's high pressing style, that went out of the window as soon as he came through the door, Lamb.

Maybe the World Cup is too soon, but the likes of Paloschi and Icardi could be very good players soon.

But yeah, Argentinas attack is probably something the Italians can't compete with

I like Marco Sau. Italy's Lambert. He might make it. They don't have anyone like Messi, but they have more depth in quality that Argentina.

I hate to be the downer Debbie on this one, and it's part of the reason I didn't post last night (Besides just not being around for most of the evening and missing the actual news when it happened), but I'm still not fully on board. The stature of the signing is brilliant, great statement for Saints, but the actual signing itself leaves me conflicted. He has the ability no doubt, but from what I've seen of him and what I know about him I just can't help be more apprehensive than excited. Not saying he's guaranteed to fail and I'll give him a chance, he's easily got the quality to be a 20 goal a season striker but there are a lot of obstacles in the way and I'm not convinced it will go as smoothly as the frenzy of joy around his signing would suggest.

I'd just call that the natural anxiety of a Saints fan. ;)

WE have to trust MP to get the best out of him. He's an experienced International goalscorer and I think will quickly become a bit of a cult hero.

I've comforted myself with knowledge of two things:

    1) Osvaldo had a very happy time at Espanyol under Pochettino. They seem pretty chummy.

    2) Many people among the Roma board, staff, players and fans seem to be royal twats.

Lots of people still crying on twitter, the majority of rival fans are saying we definitely don't have the money we're spending.

Obviously MP wanted Osvaldo as a first chioce target and it gives me confidence that MP will most definitely know how to exploit Osvaldo's abilities

    Ban.

No it's a fair comment, we will have to wait and see. Things didn't seem to go well at Roma (if they had he wouldn't be at Southampton right now) but there were a lot of reasons for that, so hopefully he is able to put that behind him. Poch having first hand experience of him makes me a lot more confident. Also our squad is big enough now that if players lose form, we can swap things around.

Why is it Saint Daniel? I thought his name was Pablo Osvaldo? Have I missed something?

I think anyone who's not apprehensive is far too naive! But there are loads of question marks around every deal, and it's more fun to be excited than apprehensive - however, I won't pretend that I'm not filled with a sense of dread every now and then.

The club said he wishes not to be called Pablo. So use his middle name Daniel. He uses "Dani" on his Twitter.

His middle name is Pablo, mate.

    Daniel Pablo Osvaldo.

EDIT: my mistake, as you were.

Talking of Twitter, according to SaintsWeb, Osvaldo's partner has just tweeted "Hello England!!"
