Shame this thread never really got going. Agent Wenger is doing a fine sabotage job down the road.

Hmmm. I think the empty seats at the emirates on Saturday as well as the banners saying "spend", might result in arsenal making some massive signings. I won't be surprised if they end up with Rooney.

I doubt Utd are as daft as Arsenal in selling a big player to a rival (for 4th <whistle>)

    A question..

Do we want Wenger to be given a new contract?

    In favour -
He seems to be going backwards in terms of buying players
    Arsenal are in decline

    Against -
They could get a DOF in to sort that out
He gets the best from his players, and constantly thwarts our attempts on 4th

A re-shuffle there, coupled with some changes and turmoil could be a good thing, but then someone else may come in with a good eye for a buy and they could be formiddable with all that wonga.

    So which is it?

I think he is passed it. Was a truly great manager <steam> but I'd be happy to see him renew. Especially if he does leave, I really hope we do the biz this year. Would be terrible if he moved on and we'd never finished in front of him. We owe him that as a retirement present.

Its tough, certainly in the market he appears to have lost it, but we can hardly argue with his results (end of season) can we? Who is to say he won't pull it out the bag again.
Also, we don't know its him that is causing the transfer problems, it could be someone else. For that reason i'd like him to go as changing manager is always a risk and they're transfer problems might continue too.

Yeh, would be great him retiring in the knowledge we had surpassed them under his guidance.

I actually think Benitez would be a good replacement.

If Arsenal were going to replace Wenger, then they'd be better off with someone like Frank de Boer and a new DOF.
They'd have to put up with Barca sniffing around, though.

  18. Whilst nothing would give me greater pleasure than seeing Whinger leave AFC a broken man, left to gaze upon an Arsenal that is headed for mid-table obscurity, I would much rather that he signed a new contract. I believe he can drag Arsenal under even further, whereas a replacement is likely to come in and stem the tide of collapse.

Oh, and Chirps... Remember when Whinger came out with this classic?

"My advice to you Robin is zat you should not leave zis club because.... Robin? Robin?"

You couldn't make this stuff up.

I don't want Wenger to stay on though, just in case the Arsenal ownership wake up and help him out.
Installing a professional assistant and a DOF could allow him to return to being a sensible and calm manager, instead of the current raving nutcase.

Agreed PNP, I don't think Wenger has lost the ability to get his team playing so with a DOF they could be good again.

Someone else may want to put their stamp on the team, toughen them up, change this and that...then if it fails....someone else to change them here and there.....maybe get a manager from switzerland with a penchant for public transport... <whistle>
