And the Bigg Market..............WOW,,,,,,,,,,,, Old Sunderland saying,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, anybody who ****s a woman from Newcastle,,,,,, is too lazy to ****. back to football and were cool.
Throw my 2 pence in here...As a lad from a fairly mixed area of County Durham and someone who has spent the past 3 years living away in Northern Ireland, I've never really been exposed to real serious hatred from or to either side. My mates at Uni who're United fans constantly tell me how they hate City and I ask them why, they never have a decent answer, usually just saying "they're our rivals, its the same for you with Sunderland" ... Honestly, the majority of my best mates from Bishop are Mackem fans and even though we'll wind each other up in the run up to the derbies, the majority of the time we'd just appreciate a bit of decent football and good passion from the supporters. 'Begrudging respect' is probably the best way I could sum it up!
Well stop going to St James' Park and get down to the Stadium of Light. We use combs, irons and all sorts down here.
cna't???? Heck, the Stella's getting a grip. I'd better bugger off afore I make an arse of meself. (No witty comments please).
I don't hate sunderland at all to be honest, a lot of family and friends follow them although I do enjoy the banter and rivalry. I find the whole hatred thing some fans have just weird and twisted to be honest. I spent three years of my life living in sunderland and didn't find it all that bad. Most of the people there were decent folk although the same as everywhere else you got some right knobheads. It does seem like sunderland has been screwed over investment wise though especially the vaux site, the right sort of development there could really give the city a massive boost.
Spot on with that statement, it's a ****ing shame, the potential was massive, just a shame no one took real advantage of it.
The city centre is in need of investment you're right. Shame on the local government/council for the train station debacle what a mess they made of that.
I live just outside of Notts, and the massive investment that the council and local businesses have made here is massive, the city is one of the best I've been to and it just emphisises the difference between here and Sunderland. It seems that up North the money spent is just enough to stop the place dying, even though it's slowly in decline, where as down here they are trying to improve things. Cant really understand why, just seems that the only people who care about the North isn't the government or the council, it's the people. Still could be worse, we could be Cockerneys.
