well maybe it is the wake up call our lads need, been far too much hype about us in the media, a reality check me thinks!.......................
Its not Bens job to cover the middle though is it? we have zonal marking and if you don't mark within your zones you end up with a free man at the back post who makes the goal !! Ben got it wrong and ash got it wrong!! Ben must do HIS job and let the others worry about theirs . That's exactly what Laudrup will be telling him tomorrow im sure
Exactly how i saw todays game, just watch how other teams close VP down in the coming weeks, and by the way, anyone remember last season's game, how Williams could have killed VP?? ......................
He miscalculated the situation. Went for a ball but did´nt touch it. To me that is bad defending (in the situation). As far as I recall, Chico and Williams were right next to the united player in front of the goal. Three players on the same player - forgetting the other united players around, is not good defending. But still it do not matter. We would have lost anyhow.
As an attacking force, Bony is vital. As a defence....my God!! Ash believes his own press too much, it was the same last year and every time press follows him. His level is here. As soon as transfer windows, contracts and Moralee get involved...he gets sloppy. He is a Swansea great, but never World Class. The only way is up
I agree Phil. Man U gave us a cynical lesson in doing the basics well. At 4-1 and I the 94th minute Danny Welbeck was still sprinting around and putting tackles in. We played reasonably well, but too much of our play was sloppy with hit and hope interplay around the box. Several balls given away in midfield (Canas and Leon) led to goals. We took Man U on, but they showed why they are Champions.
I can never understand why fans jump on the band wagon and start blaming individual players who in previous games were the bee's knees. the simple fact is they are human and they faced a side that are in the top 3 in the world and we matched them all through the game. the only difference was they have the experience and technical ability to stop teams like us from scoring while biding their time getting goals to win games. thats why they are champions and we are learners. they pressurised our defence into making mistakes and were always going to score. We played the best we could but they were to good for us at this point in time. no shame in that and i thought we played very well but lacked the same technability that the champions have....
Is it not you who preaches that if they are good enough to receive praise, they are good enough to receive criticism, after all, is it not you who treated Laudrup in the exact same manner at the end of last season.
Although Manure thoroughly deserved the win we didn't get the rub of the green on occasions. On another day it could have been a draw. Some positives from the game. Canas was v good. Ki looked hungry and sharp when he came on. Definitley need that second striker. Michu up front doesn't work for me.
Dai you are speaking sense tonight - STOP IT, you're scaring me! In fact pretty much agree, to some extent, with all the comments on here tonight. We lost to the champions, but despite that am just glad to have the Premier League back in my life again. It is going to be another rollercoaster with pre-season optimism (with some seeing an unrealistic (IMO) top 6 finish) tempered by coming up against one of the best sides in the world who just know how to win and make it a habit. No shame in the result, although I feel it was a little harsh, but United deserved to win because they had that clinical cutting edge and we didn't. But there are goals in this Swansea team and I am still quietly confident. Gonna be another exciting season without a doubt.
I thought we played brilliantly and matched if not surpassed Man UTD today. Apart from the important facts of the goals, we beat the champions on stats. RVP was the difference, he scored 2 and created 1 . Those 2 goals in the 1st half would kill off most teams, but we still played well. Loads of positives to take out of the game. RVP's movement was awesome, and thats why he scores so many goals and creates them, he either ends up unmarked or so many defenders commit to marking him it creates space for other players. Apart from the result, if we play like that and the Michu/Bony partnership continues, we can look forward to another great year.
If certain players have a stormer I will say so, if they play **** I will lso say so, that's football.. Chico, ash and rangel were **** today plain and simple. We have played enough game against the likes of utd and owned their attackers, including van persie so lets not put this down to them being on another level. since we have been in the prem league they have dished out one good defeat at old Trafford, fluked a win after a rangel pass went wrong, got out of jail with a draw last season and spawned a win last away game of the season where the ref was giving them everything to make sure fergie had a good send off! so lets get perspective! yes utd and van persie are awesome but when we are on our game we are a match for them, defensively we were very poor and we left ourselves too much to do....doesn't that sound very familiar to you ?? Aston villa home Reading home Norwich home Norwich away Everton home All games where the defence was sloppy and the game was beyond salvage. Its been proven that if you give bony a sniff of goal he will score, but its no point if we give the champions an easy ****ing 2 goal lead by being unprofessional and sloppy! Ive seen the exact same thing so many times now, I honestly think id prefer to see Amat have a game at the back after witnessing that first half defensive display.

I'm going to watch the match again tomorrow, but there were a number of players dogging it towards the end. Dyer in particular. Was hoping he would get subbed for Poz, but they decided to go with Ki instead. Bony - he is going to do ok. he finished Pablo's feed beautifully. the first two goals were a disaster as everybody has said and that gave us a mountain to climb. Pablo is going to be one of those players that make us tick offensively. he is always trying to be creative - not always successful, but did more in 45 than some others did in 90. vdp finished like somebody of his caliber should - earned his money.
I hold this crappy "discuss" thread responsible. Knee jerk reactions from some, sleep on it instead. I agree with Dai's posts
stacks of positives today....this was not against qpr you know this was against the champions of england who have players on £150k-£250k/week....it was a great game apart from the score that we can learn from .....
Indeed lots of positives, as I mentioned in my first post. A few negatives too so lets not stick our heads in the sand either
Lot's of positives to take against the biggest club in world football, but the defence needs a lot of work
