Palace sign Chamakh on a one year deal.

Strange deal to me. If you back your signing, you want to give them a long-term deal so you have resale value and stability. If you don't back them, a one year deal offers lower risk, but why are you signing them? I'm still not convinced by their transfer dealings this summer.*

*I'll now be forced to eat my words when we sign Elmander on a one year deal...

I think Palace have no faith in staying up and could only afford his wages as a pl team.

Elmanderis 3 years older so to have a rolling 1 year contract would not be crazy, but at 29 you would of thought at least a 2 year plus extension and relegation clause would make sense for Chamakh

So according to twitter Johan Elmander is to undergo a medical today at some point:

"Johan Elmander to Norwich City is nearly complete, the experienced ST is set to undergo a medical tomorrow ahead of a £6.8mil move"(posted last night)

    https://twitter.com/FootballAgent66

If true Is he worth £6.8m?

I'm not in to twitter, but looking at the previous tweets from this person (Tony Pulis to replace Ranieri at Monaco for one), I'd take it with a pinch of salt.

Could it not be like the Quag deal was quoted in some places as maybe £12M because of wages being added in?

I'd take Elmander as back-up on a free transfer for sure, but I wouldn't for a second think we'd pay a fee for him, and definitely not £6.8m!!

    Didn't Bolton pay £10m a few years back? <yikes>

especially considering he's 32, I'd prefer Mo personally, I think Elmanders experience would be an asset but we wouldn't get much value for money.

What could Elmander give us that Becchio can't, apart from a bit of PL experience. Not for me thanks - rather have Holty back .....even Morison for that matter !

isn't he (elmander) a lot bigger than becchio - that would be the advantage? as we've sold holt and morrison we're down in the height department up front.

    edit - he's 6'2, just checked it

No way. The opinion of Morison amongst a number of Norwich fans was harsh, but he's definitely not as good as Elmander.

I really hope this thing about Elmander isn't true. I do not rate him at all! I would be massively underwhelmed if he is a Norwich player this season, regardless of the price.

    I was joshing !!

At £6.8m Elmander's way over priced - way, way over priced. We do lack that "big" striker now so I could see why they'd be interest but we can buy better for that sort of cash. CSM anyone ???

I would definitely take Elmander, even though he's getting on a bit now. £6.8mil is ridiculous though - I'd say £2mil-£3mil would be about right.

I think Elmander would be a fine player to have in the team, if he came on a free or for £1mil. £6.2 is ridiculous (And the twitter account that came from seems highly unreliable, surprised we are all talking about it so much). Personally the main reason I would want him here is because while we're attacking the N&P I could pretend we still have Holt upfront from my position in the Barclay.

Well, he would probably be massively underwhelmed to find himself playing for us. He is currently playing for the champions of Turkey alongside the likes of Sneijder, Drogba, Altintop, with the Champions League to look forward to and Brazil 2014 with Sweden. Probably pretty happy I'd say. As for price, even at 32, transfermkt value him at £4M. I'd say there is more to him than some of us allow. <ok>
