You said his value would increase (& I quote) "even if he didn't kick a ball for Liverpool", which is utter tosh

You 'logic' requires one of the CL big boys i.e. one capable of spending £40m+ on a striker (which in itself limits the pool to a very select few) to be supposedly 'desperate' to retain their CL position (your words). Which ignores the fact that the CL group stages will have finished by then, so they'd either be out or in the knockout rounds.

I'm not sure why anyone would pay a premium over what was bid for him in the summer, to sign a player who'd not played a competitive game for 5 months & was in open dispute with his club, who'd be eager to part company with him. In short, you're talking bollocks imo.

You can twist my words any way you like. Sure the group stages will have finished nobody is arguing with that. But, teams going into the knockout rounds will have a good idea of their relative strengths and weaknesses in relation to their opponents. The pool of available quality players who are not cup-tied will be extremely small. On reputation alone Suarez's value will increase over what it stands at today. Plus those teams will have time to negotiate a deal without being in the full glare of publicity with a side who have no real pressure to sell at any price.

Now it would be advantageous if Suarez was playing but it is not mandatory. So in reciprocal fashion you're talking out of your arse.

I never twisted your words, I quoted them verbatim.

How the **** have you concluded that "on reputation alone" Suarez value will increase? What, after 5 months sat with his thumb up his rectum after having a contract spat with his club, how would that enhance his reputation ffs?

Plus you state that you'd "have no pressure to sell at any price" haha, what after paying his wages for months for **** all & having a multi million £ asset sat depreciating by the day (despite your ridiculous counter argument, that'd be the reality in those circumstances I'm afraid) you reckon there'd be "zero pressure to sell"? Go have a word with yourself Dave ffs, you're not that daft! Are you?

  5. Because clubs that are still in the CL in January will be looking to recruit players that are not cup-tied and its not often you get someone of Suarez's quality in that window.

(I think thats what he meant )

ah assumptions eh... one side assuming suarez will play the other that he won't.

tobes you can say what you like but we'll just have to wait and see. you'd like us to sit paying 125k per week to suarez in the u21s and dave would like him to come bakc, play and score goals.... neither of you have crystal balls...

Yeah assumptions & that's an incorrect one by you, as it was Dave who came up with the scenario that his value would increase even if he didn't play - which I rightly told him was horse ****.

I am not sure Suarez would be here after the summer transfer market. The only thing delaying his departure no other club is bidding for him outside the EPL.
He already pissed every one off; and we are all looking to see the back of him.<ok>

Then why did you assume that his value would drop dramatically if he played and banged the goals in?

I understand all of that but what I don't see is why one [or any] of those clubs aren't interested now. The £40m clause isn't going away so the starting point for sale will be the same - if the reason I'm not seeing is the hope that his price will drop.

Transfer news: Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers stands firm over Luis Suarez

    Last Updated: August 12, 2013 11:45am

Brendan Rodgers and Luis Suarez: Neither side willing to back down
Brendan Rodgers and Luis Suarez: Neither side willing to back down

Brendan Rodgers says there can be "no solution" to Liverpool's stand-off with Luis Suarez as long as the striker refuses to apologise.

Rodgers is demanding a show of contrition from the Uruguay international over what he sees as "a total disrespect" for the club's values.

Suarez is attempting to force through a move to Arsenal and claims Rodgers has reneged on a promise to sell him for £40m-plus if Liverpool failed to make this season's UEFA Champions League.

Rodgers denies making any such promise, and owner John W Henry has given an "unequivocal" assurance he will not sell to Arsenal.

That leaves an unrepentant Suarez training alone and in limbo, and despite his wish for an amicable resolution Rodgers is not about to back down either.

"If you don't have that commitment, and those standards, then you won't play. It's as simple as that."
    Brendan Rodgers

He told the club website: "It is something that we have to do everything we can to fix.

"There has been a lot said and a lot reported, and we have made a stance, as a club and as a manager, of the commitment and the standards required.

"If you don't have that commitment, and those standards, then you won't play. It's as simple as that.

"If we have got to sit and wait, then so be it. But this is a club that has got great values, and we hope that the situation can be resolved amicably, and I am sure it will be.

"There's no problem between me and him, it is quite calm. But obviously I have got to respect the club and the team.

"It doesn't matter who you are, if they're not pulling their weight then they are letting down the club, the city and everyone who has stood by them.

"So until I get that assurance that we are going to get nothing but 100% commitment, then there will be no solution."

See there you go again! You have no idea what will happen to his price yet you will claim that Suarez is a " multi million £ asset sat depreciating by the day" without the slightest shred of evidence to support that contention. Whereas I have forwarded a reasoned argument to support my contention that his value will rise. So exactly who is supposed to be thick in that case. An agent-provocateur without an argument or somebody who presents reasons for their opinion. So I suggest that you take your own advice and "have a word with yourself".

No, you were attempting to be patronising by talking about assumptions being made when it was clear from your post that you thought we were disagreeing about whether Suarez would play or not, which was an incorrect assumption on your part. Nice attempt at side stepping it though.

Look we've made our position clear and still Suarez is yet to hand in a transfer request or take us to court. His last card was the interview. There is nothing else he can now do
