**** Doyle he's ****e and not worth anywhere near a £3m fee. £1,000,000.00 fee maximum and wages around £15,000.00 per week is the very most I'd pay for him and still consider decent business, any more would be a joke. If we need another striker I'd go for Jamie Vardy.
Is it possible that the Doyle rumour (and maybe the Huddlestone/Livermore ones) are a Brucey smokescreen? That the media and everone is looking at the domestic scene, while SB is sorting out our needs in France?
An odd one - Doyle seems like yesterday's man, having done his best work between 2006 and 2010. He's only 29 so shouldn't be over the hill, but still... hardly a knock-your-socks-off name. The strange thing is, the Mirror is the one national paper that seems to get its City rumours right.
While Kevin Doyle seems a bit expensive at £3m and while he wouldn't be my choice - if SB thinks he can do a job for us then that's good enough for me. Would such a move pave the way for Fryatt to hit the exit door?
I think Doyle could do a job for us, although the fee will be less, with the enticement of add-ons and if he earns them then that's just fine. Fryatt's away.
NO NO NO to Kevin Doyle. Way past his best and not even as a FAT on £5k a week imo. YES YES YES to the other two. Get them in now Brucie please.!!!
No he did not. Still wants one more striker. But is he ? Could be a smoke and mirrors operation. Who knows where Steve Bruce has gone to. Agreed.
Actually, he said he's going to concentrate on midfield. This doesn't mean we won't strengthen other areas, but the priority now is getting midfielders in. The media will generate rumours based on where they think we are weakest; as we've traditionally lacked in the goal scoring department, a lot of the rumours about us will be for strikers. At the end of the transfer window, they always ask fans who they'd like to see come in and 99% seem to say striker. It's sort of a self affirming, wishful thinking frame of mind. QPR showed that mindlessly signing players doesn't yield success and we have to make sure that the squad is balanced. We don't know how well Danny Graham or Yannick Sagbo will do and to second guess them before the season has started isn't fair. We of course have Fryatt, Aluko and Proschwitz, which totals 5 strikers, assuming Brady and Boyd won't also be playing in a forward position at some point. Again, wishful thinking dictates that many fans will happily see these players leave to be replaced by others. Perhaps over time, but we aren't going to recoup what we paid for Proschwitz unless he has a good season so why ship him out before he's had a chance? And who's to say the players we replace them with are going to do just as well? Look at Torres at Chelsea as a prime example. We just need a defensive midfielder, a play maker and if I was being greedy maybe another wide player if we're going with a 4-3-3 with width, in my opinion. After the start of the season (but before the transfer window ends) I think we will see the progress and base the rest of our business on that.
Every paper in the country is running this story is seems (when you look at newsnow) so maybe there is something in this one? The 4-3-3 is an interesting one - Doyle would fit in as a middle of the front 3, but we have Graham playing there and I see Sagbo as playing that role too - he didn't look a wide player at all Vs Betis. I hope Bruce doesn't play him there just to accommodate him in the side. I'd much rather see Sagbo and Graham contend for the middle of the front 3 slot and spend this "£3million" on a player to contend with Brady and Aluko for the wide spots of the front 3.
Just because every paper is running it doesn't mean it's got any substance. Most papers chat the same ****. Still a big no no towards Doyle. Put that £3m towards players such as Huddlestone.
I'd be spunking me sen off left right and centre if we got Huddlestone and Livermore. But Doyle wouldn't even give me a twinge. Wolves will be desperate to get him off the wage bill. Bet they are starting up the rumours themselves.
