I know what I will forever remember Ian Walker for, and that is when he let that daisy cutter in at the Park Lane end against Liverpool. Dived over the top of it and then the big screen caught him laying there grinning like a Cheshire Cat. Oh and also for his poxy hair cut.

Walker must have been ****ing fantastic to get the clean sheet record considering some of the defender in front of him, most of who are featuring in the "worst spurs team" thread.
He never even got close to saving a penalty though, although that is par for the course for spurs, like outfield players and not getting close to scoring them.

Come on now SC, how could you not remember some of Walkers world class saves and his hair bouncing as he looked at the camera at the same time as pulling off the save of the century (I just need to remember what that save was ;)).

It was when we had Jurgen, David Howells had somehow turned himself into a world class DM, Gerry Francis had turned us into a team hard to beat, and we went to west ham away and I think we had to get to half-time to kept beat the clean sheet record.

Walker, Howells and Gerry never let us down and our man Jurgen scored I think.

    What a team!

doesn't he still have that haircut now?
mind you, it's been so long, fashion has probably gone full circle and it's probably "in" again now!

Yes he does. He is like Gerry Francis, he's had the same hairstyle all his life.

you should have told him that before he wrote "I am the one and only". - No you're not mate, you're pretty much Ian Walker. Think of a different song title, yeah? <laugh>

I can't believe a hairdresser lets him walk out of a salon looking like that. can't be good for his/her buisiness.

Nice - kind - thread Roo - but I guess football is not a place for sentiment. OUr back up keeper has to be first class

    what... a comb?

I think any club would struggle to have a first class keeper who wants to sit on the bench, though.

A nice post, if only there were a place for sentiment in the game. I think often we look over as fans how important the human aspect of the game is at times. Players always play better when they're secure, happy and confident but I know I rarely consider that when thinking of a players form.

would'nt want Gomes anywhere near the squad, every time the opposition got nearthe goal i would expect a goal.He was a good shot stopper yes,but you need more than that as a keeper.you could see the defence lose confidence in him,and as roo say's you need confidence to play well,i'd even have our veteran's keeper Howells, before Gomes!
