If Short decided to change the name, colour of the shirts, name of the stadium etc.. in order to raise funds for players/team improvement would you be against it? How much would history and tradition mean v success?

I would be at the front of the pack mate, I would not stand for it on any level.

Our club has a fabulous and proud history, and a hardcore following nudging 40k, as well as the support of the greater region.

I don't think for a second Ellis underestimates that, but I would not go along with anything that cheapened the history and traditions of the club. Never.

If it was all about tradition then Sunderland (and district teachers association football club) wouldn't wear red and white (all blue) or play at the SOL (Blue House Field, Hendon). The club that started it all isn't anything like the club today. The club of 2013 has steadily evolved for one reason or another and will continue to evolve in the future. If it's about success then it's the cash for me.

But it wasn't tradition when we changed name and colours. 95% of our history is Sunderland afc and red and white stripes so it is tradition imo.

I'm just feeling sick and humiliated. We'll fight it of course, but rich men are a stubborn lot. Cheers you lot

You forgot the 95% Roker Park... the Fulwell End, Roker, The paddocks, the sacred turf.. the funny scoreboard..attack,attack,attack!!!

All seating rules took that out of our hands though fella. It was the economical thing to do when you think about how cheap the ground was to build. It was cheaper than a Rocker refurb as recall as it was looked into. Wasn't thrilled about the badge change esp as there's no ship building reference but it did highlight other traditions so I let it go. That's one thing but changing the whole identity of a clubs is ludacris imo. Why don't we uproot and pop is in the midlands if it's all change.

Moving home was a progression of the club, not a change to it's history & traditions, as akin to everyday life, as you get older, you get a nicer house, a nicer car etc. You still remain who you are.

Chin up lad, you'll have a lot of support nationwide about this.

We will all continue to call you just Hull anyway, only Man City ever really get the City used!

Mate, Get an online petition up and running. I can't imagine a single person who'd refuse to sign it. If you do pop the link up for us. <ok> power to the people mate, get yourself heard.

Although I have some sympathy with the Hull Fans who are being ignored i seem to think that a few AFC Wimbledon, South Shields, Meadow Bank thistle or Wellington town fans would rather a little tampering with the clubs name then moving the club lock, stock and barrel to a new town. Look at what is happening to Coventry at the moment...

Not comparable mate, this is a financially solvent club, with a decent modern stadium and a decent following.

Agreed mate. But I view things on their own merits and not others. Heart goes out to all those fans and if I was offered a chance to sign a petition for each and everyone of those clubs, I would have signed them as well, even Coventry. Don't attack me everyone. :)

Sorry Hull fans. What about Cardiff fans? Do you reckon they give 2 hoots about tradition now they are in premiership (shirts changed from blue to red)?

For the record I would not settle for a change from stripes to anything else.

Financially solvent but the new owner has stumped up 40 million of investment.(he also gave a million to the rugby league team for development).

Had the same guy turned up in Coventry at the end of last season it would be a totally different ball game for their fans. I know we are supposed to hate Coventry but you wouldn't wish their fate on your worst enemy. A simple name change for 40 million to a Championship team? ... i'd take it.

Ask Coventry City fans if an investor comes in now and offers 40 million but you would have to change Coventry City to Coventry Eagles would you take it? I bet the vast majority wouldn't give a stuff about tradition.

Facts are mate, that's irrelevant they are, as are we, a stable Premier League football club.

We're talking reality here not theoretics.
