It depends for me, whilst 8th in itself is a good achievement. It would depend if we'd been top half all season and relatively consistent or if we'd been languishing 13th/14th all season but won our last 4 games and scraped 8th.

If it's the latter then no.

Most important for me this season is to see a fluidity from us and a passing game where possible. If that is evident in our play but we finish 12th then I'd be more than happy as introducing a new style of play isn't achieved over night etc. I'd rather good football and finish a few places lower than hoofball and finish top 8.

But hoofball could never achieve 8th...

In answer to the OP, I'd bite you're hand off so quick I'd get a 10 game ban by the FA

Ahh, but that's different. Sam 'I could manage Real Mdrid' Allardyce plays VISIONARY football, not hoofball...

Considering we've been lucky enough to get the considerable influence of Joe Kinnear on board, retain the services of Shola and Gosling I would be so bold as to suggest that finishing 8th would be an abject failure.

In the current circumstances 8th would be a decent finish.
Hopefully as the season unfolds, we would see it as a failure and looking for more.

Wouldn't grumble about being in the top ten after last season.

    Would I settle for 8th???!

I'd snap your hand off. 8th is what I think we should be aiming for with the players at our disposal, but I'd have said 8th was the highest we could have finished.

    I predict that we'll finish around 9-12th.

It doesn't look like a whole load of thought has gone into though. The 3 relegated teams are the ones that have just come up.

Would take it now, don't know what to expect this term, as it will be interesting to see how the January signings will develop.

After the crap we served up last season, 8th would be class.

8th would be a great season. Ill be happy with 12-10th with a good cup run, hope he actually tries in the cups this year.

8th place isn't settling when you've just avoided relegation by the skin of your teeth

I do think the European campaign had a huge influence on last season, nearly every game we picked up an injury that made the player unavailable for the weekend PL game. If you look at the season before we had great consistency through the spine of the side.
