Anyone know if the smoking ban inside the stadium covers e-cigs and vaping?

No. Not that anyone takes much notice of the ban on real ciggies where I am in E1.

    No you're allowed them in the stadium, heres a reply from City i got;

Thank you for taking the time to contact us. As a smoker myself I appreciate why you are asking the question.

We here at the KC, along with the majority of stadiums, are very much undecided with regard to smoke-free aids. On one hand, we have no issue with them in themselves. However, other stadiums we have talked with have found that the use of smoke-free aids has, at times, been seen as a ‘green light’ or ‘cover’ for other fans to begin to smoke real cigarettes. Additionally because we cannot determine via CCTV whether a cigarette is real or not, then the ‘smoker’ must be challenged. This in itself can cause conflict as we have to challenge often as there have been cases of people using a smoke-free aid and then ten minutes later having a real cigarette!

As is the way with so many rules, they are often created not because of the core issue, but because some people abuse a generic privilege or system – which is a shame.

Rather than to openly state that we are permitting smoke-free aids our policy, just for the moment, is to permit the use of smoke-free aids and then ‘wait & see’. We will make sure our stewards are aware of this.

I completely understand that our policy is not ideal, but for you, but I hope I have properly explained why our position is as it is and also the reasons why something as harmless as smoke-free aids could possibly be banned at some point.

A bloke a few seats from me in E7 had 4 stewards round him against Cardiff for getting one of them e cigs out . He looked well pissed off trying to explain it was not real . Plus all the fans were telling them to **** off cause they could not see the game.

There's a bloke next to me that smokes an e-cig and he doesn't get any bother. If they aren't going to let people out at half time for a cig, then they should at least let people smoke the fake ones (I don't have one and have to wait 2 hours till I'm out the stadium).

I used to be quite a heavy smoker, but it always astonished me that people seemed incapable of going without for the duration of a football match. It's 2 hours for crying out loud - I went without a cig for longer when I was at work than I did at the football.

I got the impression (rightly or wrongly) that they insisted on smoking in the stands or in the toilets as an act of defiance against the smoking ban

I spoke to Nick Thompson about the smoking issue.

The club are very keen to get people into the ground earlier and have them stay longer after games, so they spend more in the Premier Club and in the concourse kiosks etc and make more of a day of it. We're looking to improve the food and drink, but I told him he was going to have a hell of a job getting people to arrive earlier and leave later if they couldn't have a cig.

As APM says, not having a cig for the duration of a football match is no big deal, but your average smoker is going to be keen to get out the ground to have one the minute the whistle goes. FC are already going to trial a smoking area at half time, so it's not as if they can't manage it at the stadium.

Premier Club members used to be allowed out for a cig, but it was stopped a couple of seasons ago, on the grounds that it was not fair to the other fans that were not allowed out. I pointed out that it was no more unfair that they didn't get a parking space or use of the members bar and we'd paid handsomely for these extras, but it got me nowhere.

There's a growing trend for smoking areas to be opened at half time, at least seven or eight away's last season had smoking areas, it can't be that hard to sort.

To be fair, I don't tend to get any craving when I'm sat in the stands, it's as soon as the games over that I suddenly realise I want one. Still, they used to let us out at half time at Leicester (and their hot dogs were miles better) so I guess I've been spoilt a bit!

    Short Term problem.

All the smokers will be dead (or at least bed ridden) soon anyway, surely?

Not really, I can still play 90 minutes of football and run every night. Not much of a problem if I want to pop out for a cig is it?

But according to the packets shouldn't you be dead? Or is this more false advertising?

No idea. I might not even be alive now. I sort of exist across dimensions. Throughout the present, future and past all at the same time.

I used to buy those packets that had the warning: "Smoking may harm your unborn child" - I knew I was OK as it didn't apply to me.

    It's a ****ing liberty.

By that I mean these ****s who feel the need to smoke, e smoke , cyber smoke or smoke a ****ing peace pipe in the ground.

Let's go the whole hog and let every **** inject heroin while we're at it.

I think that I may have drank too much claret and should maybe go to bed.
