Verbal agreements do not have to be witnessed.

And they are every bit as binding as a written agreement.

In order for a verbal agreement to have no value, ultimately one party has to be prepared to lie on oath.

Not that it really matters, he will get his way, and LFC will get what they are offered, keeping him makes no sense, holding out for more money will hurt LFC more.

Arsenal and Spurs are by far our most direct rivals. There is no way we will let him go to Arsenal (if we are right about the contract) without a big fee. Sooner keep him till January by which time another CL will take him off our hands. Probably for 35ish mil though,.

No they are not, too general an assessment, it has to be done the right way, not a quick chat over coffee between two people<doh>

Surely a release clause is a pretty simple thing by nature and is in a lot of contracts. Ours either IS or ISNT a release clause. Just because it has a number in it, doesn't mean it's a release clause. Whatever the contract says is what stands. Doesn't matter wtf Suarez thinks it means or ought to have been or was verbally agreed to have been.

That is patently the case, but my point was when has that ever happened before? Therefore was the understanding of the other party that the agreement had a release clause? patently the answer to that is yes. So, therefore they agreed to that contract with that understanding being a key factor. How did they originally reach that agreement ? Almost certainly verbally.........

Either way, Suarez should definitely look at changing agents for this cock up!

I'd prefer it if he went to Arsenal and won **** all than go to Real and win a ton of stuff. Poetic justice and all that, but knowing our luck he'd help them win something.

Yes, it is exactly what they are there for. pretty much like unions. PFA hardly gonna tell him to **** off

They did before in his other incidents. Taylor was quick to condemn then - agreed Suarez was in the wrong but the PFA weren't interested in helping him then.

It doesn't matter how a bloody agreement is reached, what matters is the agreement that was created and signed. It's not that hard. It's a legal, signed and enforceable document. Nothing else matters apart from what CAS thinks the clause says.

The verbal agreement part sounds exactly the same as Modric, and they forced him to stay

The PFA would only offer their public support in terms of a contract dispute, if they thought that the players case was valid. The wouldn't defend the indefensible.

Yup. some "gentleman's agreement" bullshit. he stayed another year (dispite his hissy fit), played well, and left the following summer at no discount. If we had levy in charge we all know he wouldn't buckle, I hope we don't do the same.

Least this thread seems to have calmed down a bit after last nights announcement <laugh>

I do too, but the likelihood is he would do well at Arsenal and probably would help the bottlers win something

Sorry but it does.

I agree to sell you my house & tell you that the carpets & curtains are included when you view it. We agree a price & you start the buying process. A sale agreement is drawn up & as part of that it says that carpets & curtains are included but I can come back at any point I fancy & take them back.

Your solicitor misses the detail of the clause & you move in, a year later I turn up & demand the curtains back, legally - as per the written contract - I'd have every right, but would you have ever agreed to that at the time we did the deal? Not a chance, so therefore was the contract misleading & not representative of the verbal agreement reached? Most definitely..........

It's nowhere near as 'black & white' as you're looking to portray it.
