http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/aug/04/luis-suarez-arsenal-liverpool-rodgers What is this obsession in football with having or lacking class? Chelsea are seen as not to have it, and clubs like United and Arsenal are usually seen as "having it". Is it some northern sports reporter thing? They seem obsessed by class and dominate the national press so this word has entered sporting lexicon. This 'class' thing is cringeworthy
I don't really see what Arsenal have done wrong. They mistakenly believed there was a clause in the contract at over 40 million so bid 40 million plus a pound. They have every right to bid for a player and Liverpool have every right to reject it. Seems to me it's just BR having a hissy fit cos he knows the player wants to leave. Lack of class is the way Liverpool and Suarez have conducted themselves in the last 18 months, not Arsenal. Barca and Real are by far the worst clubs when it comes to 'class' though when trying to sign players. None of the English clubs even come close.
They've done nothing wrong but it was hardly going to get them on good terms with Liverpool. Ultimately player power prevails in the end though and Suarez will probably get his way meaning the tongue in cheek offer from goons will not matter!
Lack of class is when a manager does a press conference to attack fans questioning his loyalty, as he has been linked to another club, and promising he will be there next season only to turn up at another press conference at another club announcing how pleased he is to be their new manager 24 hours afterwards. The man's a hypocrite of the highest order
I think the worst display of 'class' is the Suarez t shirt incident. Showered themselves in **** there.
Quite true really. Classy please log in to view this image Then there's Arsenal player in their new strip please log in to view this image Not sure about the Petr Cech headgear though?
Liverpool don't know the meaning of the word, they tapped up clint Dempsey then announced they had bought him from ffc, ffc had no contact from lfc, lfc then done a grovelling apology, the media choose to ignore this story, why? because it was little ffc, and not there media darlings, and at the end of the season before last lfc finished 7th, ffc finished 8th on the same points rant over
Fulham have got a statue of a kiddie-fiddler outside Craven Cottage if you want to speak about class.
It's also rapidly becoming a weapon used by those who have had no success at all in recent years against those that have.
Brenda is a diva and he's just upset that Arsenal aren't going to get mugged off by his 'Bale-esque' valuation of Suarez. Arsenal were informed that the player wanted to leave Liverpool, so they made a bid. That's about as much as there is to Arsenal's contribution. The classless response has been all Brenda's with his public tantrums about Suarez and his valuation of him.
