Bob - John's threads like this one are his business - he can post what he likes and they should stay up as long for those that want to use them. I don't think that's the real problem though.

The problem comes when it spills over onto discussion threads about football posting obvious wum comments and then he claims he wasn't referring to Swansea because he didn't mention the name! Do us a favour FFS!

We get the inevitable comebacks from down the road and the thread often spirals out of control. I also accept that they've got a few that actually start it across here, and they should be treated the same way that John was over there.

Wum threads are all part of the forum and this one is a prime example, but don't claim it to be an innocent comment about parks football on the night of the Jacks's first game in Europe. It was highjacked into talking about football for a while. Perhaps that was wrong, but it was nice to have a thread go that way for a change rather than the other.

Swansea can do and say what they like on their own board - I couldn't give a monkeys. Avoiding threads over here personally as suggested by Stevo is one answer, but not the solution. The very fact that the vast majority of John's comments on this forum reflect in some way towards the derision of Swansea can set the tone for the whole board.

For Christ's sake, we're trying to discuss football AND have a laugh between us - not embark on ethnic cleansing. Some might find the repetitve crap funny, but I don't.

I've said my piece on the subject for now, but this forum began to lose it's attraction for me a few weeks back because of the constant agro. It's has come back to some sort of normality now, but if it goes that way again, I wont be going with it.

There's not much we disagree on fella, but on this we do. Like I say it's a John thread what else did you expect?

    Posted as 4:38 yesterday

By the way while we debate this fellas we keep it as the hot topic. Do you see where I'm going.

Musty, I'd stay out if it if I was you. It's obvious that certain matters will come to a head sooner rather than later on here but it's their business and let them sort it out themselves. Taff seems decent enough to me so let him deal with it.

What are we disagreeing on? Like you say, it's a "John thread", and I've already said he can post what threads he likes as long as he doesn't disrupt other discussion threads with pointless digs at the jacks.

It's not just him - there's enough pillocks from down west like Phil recently who are as bad, but John just attracts decent thread disruption with his quips. The point is if he sticks to the thread subjects and then the same pillocks invade to disrupt, they should be banned over here the same as he is over there.

I don't like banning full stop, but I also don't want to see a good forum ruined.

Can you honestly say you have never taken a football thread off track be it jax related or otherwise? I know I have and I know it wouldn't take me long to find other examples. John just seems to comment excessively about the jax.

There's a thread on here started yesterday "Just Popped Over" and no one batters an eyelid. I have no problem with that thread. It's a bit of fun, but why is this thread not being pulled up? It's because John isn't the OP.

Certain jax have made it their central aim since his ban way back when over there, to get him banned from his own board as well and that is why I will support the lad.

If I don't feel I have anything to add to a thread I read I just ignore it.

Good luck with that 'Sparkee' (gives you a youthful edge :))

I like a bit of banter, but am trying to stay out of your discussions at the mo.....not for the fear of a ban (ooooh I'm scared!) but you guys are trying to get the board back on track at the moment. That deserves some respect from my fellow users. OP's like this are a red rag to a bull though (as harmless and funnyish as it is, it is counter productive to your current goal).

    Good luck y'all

Sadly John has created a rod for his own back. Opposing team posters will look for anything remotely associated with their team and then make comments. As the OP John has to manage the thread and not involve himself in any silliness. He is aware of this and I am sure he will conduct himself accordingly.

Bobby - of course I've taken a football thread off track before - I just haven't made a career out of it.

John is a target for the Jacks no doubt, but he's brought it on himself. We tend to stick up for each other on here as you well know from the past, but when I see something that I believe to be causing a problem to "forum life" for many of us, it needs to be said.

Like you say, if you read a thread and have nothing to add to it, we should all ignore it. The point is when other threads are then ruined, it's time to sort it out.

I concur. As long as John keeps his threads on track, those who insistently digress should be punished.

Hi guys - just popped over :)

Look, this thread was a wum and that's fine. Anyone who says it's not is either very thick or being disingenuous. It's pretty mild and a little amusing compared to his usual standards but as Steveoldhino pointed out, getting a response from the Jacks and then whingeing to the mods when he doesn't like it is a bit rich. I understand Sparkey's annoyance too. His comments are well reasoned and make a lot of sense. Sorry Sparkey but I have to agree with you this time. <laugh>

But as for 'supporting the lad', please don't make me laugh. He goes out of his way to cause havoc with his jack-centric threads and there are those on both sides who are happy for food fight to ensue. For posters like Sparkey I understand that must be annoying. As for Jacks wanting to get him banned over here I don't see much evidence of that. How is it anything to do with them? He was banned on our board justifiably because his posts and threads were disruptive and often nasty (a side to him I haven't seen so much of lately), including offering to meet for a punch up - and then not turning up. <laugh>

You're stuck with the little horror and it's up to your mods how you deal with him. But John - a word to the not so wise. It really doesn't pay to piss off the more established and respected posters. <ok>

That's fair enough, but what about threads that aren't John's? If he (or anyone else for that matter) "digresses", should they be punished?

We need a level playing field, not just blindly support our own like they tend to do elsewhere.
