We've never used being full of **** as an excuse for bottling it at the end of the season
That's your department.

At most one of the following two statements can be true:
Spurs had a better team than Arsenal last year and should have finished above them but couldn't take the pressure and bottled it.
Spurs had a worse team than Arsenal and did well to finish within one point.
And these two
Bale is much better than Walcott and carries the poor Spurs team
Walcott and Bale are similar in quality.
So far today you've claimed all four!
The contradictions are your ownI think the 1 point difference shows we where fairly close in quality and performance last season. I think to an extent Spurs did bottle it but i also believe Arsenal played below standard in the first few months of the season. These things even themselves out in general. So far Tottenham have still failed to overtake us and so still have not as good a team.
As for Walcott and Bale i posted my thought on the Arsenal board. They have both had very similar careers, both have very similar stats, one is overrated and one is underrated. Bales physical strength allowe him to score alot of important goals whichhasgot him a lot of attention - but there isn't too much between them.

But of course stats mean nothing when they pull the rug out from under your argument![]()
Bale is the main man at Tottenham, he is quick and he is powerful which the british media love. The media had a love-in with the Spurs when you made the CL as we love a good underdog story and so Bale then performing when the spotlight was on him (inter) helped him a lot - at that point he wasn't as good as he is now, didn't have an amazing season.
So the media where desperate for him to make it and be a superstar, therefor when he had such a great season he was hyped up massively.
With Walcott he got over-rated far too early - he was taken to the World Cup as a 16 year old. Therefor everyone felt let down that he didn't burst onto the scene straight away as a superstar. From that point on a few media hacks had it in for him with there football intelligence comments and the **** stuck. Therefor despite his very clear improvements over the last few seasons to a point where he is scoring 20+ goals he has been overlooked by a lot of people.
It isn't particularly difficult to figure out why Bale is currently over-rated and Walcott under-rated.....
