Feillani will get at least 100k at just about any other club. So if we want him that's what we have to pay.
Why would Fellaini demand £100k pw? I doubt he's on anything near that at Everton. With Moyes leaving and no European football, I'm sure that he'd negotiate a fairly reasonable deal, unless Man Utd jump in for him. I'm surprised that they haven't just snapped up the Belgian and Baines though, to be honest.
Apparently his camp want 110k/week ridiculous amount IMO and probably a turn off to most clubs. Baines is good but none of the top teams are really in need of FBs
I think the boat has sailed on Fellaini, apparently his release clause expired last night. I thought we would go in for Gustavo but it looks like he might be joining Wolfsburg. Ludicrous, he would fit us like a glove. Can play CB/LB too which we are 1 injury away from in both areas from a disaster!
Yeah. I would take Gustavo over Fellaini in fact. He would be a brilliant signing. I wonder if we intend to go back in for Lars Bender? He would also be a great signing.
Lars Bender would be brilliant but Leverkusen don't need to sell and I don't expect him to push for a move in a world cup year. My worry is we might wait to sign him for another year and rely on Arteta/Diaby until then. Gustavo is open to a move though and would come relatively cheap for a player of his quality. So odd.
Diaby is already out injured for almost the entire season with his current injury so i don't think there is any chance of Wenger relying on him this season Fellaini is pushing his luck with his wage demands and that will have put clubs off i think - if he is willing to come down on his wages i can see him going to Arsenal or Utd. Somewhere it said his release clause didn't expire until the 15th of Auguest so up until then i think something could still happen.
Arsenal could be waiting to see if Fabregas is allowed to leave to use the money on him - if Utd get another bid rejected we might see Arsenal move for a different midfielder? Who knows - there are loads of variables involvedi n getting transfers done so i wouldn't just blindly insult the board and Wenger, and i'd at least hold back on critisicm until the end of the window and/or when more information comes to light about what actualy has gone on this window.
Well we've actually bid for two players so far this window. We never bid for Higuain but we have placed bids for Lars Bender and Luis Suarez. So I think its safe to say they are Arsene's first choice transfers. If we fail to land either (which looks likley) - Can we really consider this Summer a successful one?
Parker is ****, Suarez has already kicked him once, if he comes to us he might kick him again, or might even try to bite him
Even if we don't get the two players that have been bid for so far it won't automatically make it a failed transfer window - we still may bring in some quality additions.
We can't consider our club competent at this stuff even if we do get Suarez (however unlikely that is). We needed 3 players minimum[*] to even consider challenging for the title. Even the most optimistic guy on this forum would have said that at the end of last season. And there is no excuse for at least 1 or 2 of them to have been made early enough to actually start training with the team. No one expected to see a mug of Suarez or Rooney on arsenal.com by the first of July or something... but don't pretend that a world class striker was the one and only thing missing from the equation. [*] excluding smaller signings like Sanogo which are expected to come good on the long run
We need a new striker, a new CB, a new defensive midfielder, and a new creative player who can play down the wings, because Gervino isn't good enough for us. Oh yes, we also needed a new GK to give competition to Shezny. 5 players are/were definitely needed for this transfer window, so far we haven't done any of them.
I think you need to split this up a bit into the "Nice to haves" and the "Need to haves". Like if Szczney comes out and plays out of skin and the backup goalkeeper never gets a look in, it is a complete waste. I know you would probably say that "It was the competition that made Szcz play better," but you might also say, "**** Wegner is paying that goalkeeper that never plays 75K a week, WTF is he up to." Similarly the striker thing, maybe a nice to have. I do think we NEED another option at RB/CB, a Sagna clone if you like, and another option at DM. So I would say 2 needs, maybe one in-between (a striker), and 2 nice to haves.
I think that makes it pretty much 3 needs even just considering the squad depth factor. You can't go into a season expecting none of your first choices getting injured or suffering from a dip in form for considerable amounts of time.
