Jesus... is everyone feeling alright? lots of love here from the rivals!!! I've seen soldado a few times and thought he looked decent, but is he that good??!! no one's had anything bad to say about him yet. I thought there'd be some WUMS. fair play lads
When 'Arry joined Levy let him spend whatever he wanted on new toys. The trouble was he got bored with all the expensive new toys he bought very quickly so Levy took control of the pocket money again. Great manager for us but you wouldn't want to give him millions to spend unsupervised.
It's like in WWI, on Christmas Day, when the English and German soldiers left the trenches to play a game of football... ...before getting back into their trenches and killing one another.
Okay, I've watched a little video, and now I'm excited. (Not sure that came out quite right! .) Good finisher, as you'd expect. Really extraordinary volleyer. On the highlight reel I saw, most of his goals were volleys, maybe 1/3 or 1/4 headers, the rest knocked in from an average of knee height, at a fair distance. I realize it is a highlight reel, but his thing seems to be volleys off half chances (more like 1/4 chances, really) from mediocre-ish centering attempts. No doubt he, like any other striker, benefits from excellent passing. But it looks like his greatest talent is helping so-so passes on into the net (which might just come in handy with Spurs). I'll also note I didn't see a single long dribbling run from him.
yeah... his volleying is pretty good
Never liked/rated 'Arry. Can't give an objective opinion on him. On the other hand, I hugely rated Jol - who I felt deserved more credit than he got (the media lauded 'Arry). Wouldn't want to be on the end of a 2-footed tackle from him then....
12/20 goals or so last year from open play were volleys, (okay, one was a half volley), of which maybe 5 were headers. If you can get the ball into the box at knee height plus or minus a foot or so, he's your boy. The bad news is, he looks deadly from the spot.
Good signing. Expensive though, he'll need to start repaying that hefty fee pretty quickly What does this mean for Adebayor ?
I'm thinking, as are most, that Adebayor is going the way of the winds, though I hope we hang on to him. I can really see him having a big year next year.
I doubt many have seen much of him, as in paid much attention to the guy, as we're all aware of the player but unless you really watch the Spanish league and Valencia then its hard to really follow these players and know what they are truly capable of so no one wants to "commit" to other then he will be a good signing but he's expensive, but we can be sure if he's a flop, we will be reminded of it!!
Ignoring Peskie ( hopefully, one of these days he'll grow up. There's always hope for even the worst cases) he will take time to adapt to the premiership. So, I don't think we should expect miracles straight away. However, Spain are the current World and European champions, which can't make Del Bosque too bad a judge of a player. I think we can safely say that he would not have the caps that he does if there was not something there.
